    Need To Learn Geographic/Local SEO.

I'm in the UK and I've been approached about off site SEO for a couple of small local companies, one in Cheshire the other Merseyside. I can set up to to do UK but I'm not sure how to get more focused.

Can you point me to what I should be reading, any good threads, books or articles etc? Preferably stuff that is specific to the UK black or white I'll need both :p

    Many Thanks aamcle

To be Geo-targeted, get hosting in that country, Geo-targeted domain is possible and you are ready to go. If you cant get domain for that country then tell google via webmaster tools.

    el oh el.

Hate to be an ass but if you don't know how to do this, you probably shouldn't be attempting to do it for someone else.

Here I'll let you in on a HUGE secret.

You find keywords, then you build links with those keywords as the anchor text.

EXAMPLE - Dentist (Dentist, Oral Surgeon, etc)

Now that you know what people are searching for to find this type of business, you add in your geographic location.

"city" dentist, dentist in "city", dentist near "city", oral surgeon "city", etc.

    ----------

Local Directories, Googles Local Business, etc are a must.

    ----------

    Good luck.

Straightforward and good suggestion from effin.

Your client's main keywords, add their target locations to the end; build backlinks to their sites with the keywords as anchor.

There's TONS of products now about local seo, many you can find free on here and other places. Search "Local SEO" or "Offline Gold"
