    Hi,

I'm in need to find any service that can track where the visitors are coming from. We have 2 domains setup, 1 is only for Google ADwords and another one is only for organic search. Both are generating traffic and customers, but when we are asking the customers where they come from they alway say from your website - of course they don't know which domain.

What service (paid) is there to track this. Google Analytics is hiding some data as far as I can see at it is difficult to see if they come from website A or B

On both websites there is phone number and contact form they can use.

    Any idea?

The reason because we want to track it, is to figure out where we shall spend our money Google ADSense or Organic Traffic / SEO optimizing.

See if Statcounter.com works for you. It gives information like you want although it does not always tell you the KWs people use.

Thank you very much.. indeed it looks exactly like what I was searching for.
Is it like Google Analytic where they hide the keyword or is it just that they can't track certain keywords

They used to show the KWs but a couple of years ago they stopped and when you look to see what KWs people use you get this in your dashboard:

I really have no clue why the change though.

    Edit: Added a better image:

Damn it is like Google does!! hmm a shame there isn't an alternative that actually show the keywords! Do you think it makes sense to try to contact them to ask?

That might be worth a shot - perhaps they can charge for that feature as I'd certainly pay as well as you and tons of others.

As google run HTTPS you can no longer get keyword data unless they give it you... if statcounter just uses an API then you may as well be using analytics if this is data you need.

Before they made the switch you could rip the keywords from the http referrer in the header.

I opened a ticket with them to ask if we can pay for it to get these keywords. It seems for me strange why they are doing it.

@I know SEO yes we are using Analytics too but it don't show the data we are looking for, thats why I count on statscounter if it's possible to see the keywords used. I assume to "rip the keywords from the http" it will require some sort of programming which I'm unable to do.

I have access to the server where the websites / domains are hosted does it help in matters of keywords you think?

Nope, I was saying as google now uses HTTPS you cannot get this information... The exact url the user came from is no longer passed to your website as the SSL encryption strips it away and you don't see it.

    Thanks

I use https://www.3dstats.com/ for tracking visitors. It also tracks adsense clicks through exit link through which we can avoid invalid adsense clicks.

Here is their reply, don't know if you are able to test if it is correct what they say:

Thanks for your message sorry for the confusion. We don't show some keywords for the same reason other trackers don't show keywords - Google started hiding them.

Fortunately for these missing keywords Google has provided a way to import them into your StatCounter account. After you have things setup with StatCounter you can go into the Settings and to GWT and setup that import.
