I have an annoying client that i have posted about here in the past. this is the one that said "my daughter knows seo, maybe she could help you."

he has asked a few times "what do you need me to do on MY end? is there anything I can to do to help?"
when I tell him "you dont need to do anything" it sounds lame.

he has set up a meeting for next week (I know meetings are a waste of time and will accomplish nothing, but I couldnt tell him no) to discuss what he needs to do. I really have nothing to say.

other than "write more content" is there anything else I could tell him to do to keep him busy so he leaves me alone?

Ask him to right a plan of what he would like different from the current situation and where he would like to see everything in 12 months.

thank you! this is genius. I will tell him it has to be at least 1000 words.

Ask him to engage with his audience on forums, quora, write on medium etc. And ask him to write faq and insider information about niche, use him simply as a content generator mate what do you want more

The reality is his daughter is 4 and she does know more about SEO than you!!

Tell him you want his daughter to write some content so you can compare their writing abilities. :D

Give him fluff work; tell him you need him or his daughter to gather a long list of his competitors' websites and write exactly 1 paragraph about each competitor where your client or his daughter describes why they believe that they are in competition with them. This should keep him and his daughter busy for quite some time and it may provide you with information that you may have missed when you scoped out his competitors at the beginning of your contract (you did scope out his competitors, right?).

Last time you asked about this situation, you were given a range of advice, but the consensus generally was that you should tell him to go away, and set the level of the playing field from the outset.

What you've done instead is taken on a client that you shouldn't have taken on, under circumstances that you shouldn't have allowed.
Probably because you need the money, and you're scared to say 'no'.

If you didn't bother listening to the advice given to you last time on how to prevent this issue, I'm certainly not going to waste time giving you advice on how to deal with this issue that was always going to happen.

OP, I really think it is time to think about outsourcing ... get this guy to do your clients SEO

scrape up 1000 forums, turn up with the list, tell him to join all the forums, and write 500 worded content on them, all with his niche in mind.

I would hate that manually ..........

Don't waste your time posting here for answer and you will have times to play around with your client :)

Don't give him "busy work", give her/them REAL work, doing backlink research and analysis on the competition looking for opportunities for backlinks that haven't been thought of previously. Might find some good, free backlinks.

Also writing OC for blogs, forum comment posting, etc... YouTube videos, pretty much everything. You should interpret this as a warning. If you don't work-out some kind of relationship where they feel like they are doing "something", they might hire someone that will. If I were approached by your client, my willingness to teach them how to DIY would be how I would take your job away.

You fundamentally miss the point.
