agreed. stay away from books, and stay near websites and eBooks, they usually have the most up-to-date. also, read forums like this one!
I have just finished the blue and red series of Brad Callen and read a couple ebooks. I am just starting to get into it and really thought that Callen's material was really informative. I'm going to check out those other books and sites. Thanks for the new material everyone.

brad Callen is the nets best seo expert -just go to the thread on seo elite - the pdfs there somewhere I think - also seobook is tops

Most books on Amazon about SEO are pretty out of date by the time they go to print etc.
Aaron Wall's book was one of my favourites even though the version I read is about two years old now.
Being honest you generally don't learn a lot more from SEO ebooks than you would be going through all of the forums here. The only difference is that the book is more structured.
I would recommend reading Seobook, I think there's an out of date version on this forum and exploring each topic a little deeper by finding threads on here as you go along.
