I am looking to build a new desktop/personal-server for my SEO activities. Budget is around $1000 (more or less).

Was thinking about i7 (since it does hyper-threading) and at least 32GB RAM (or maybe i should go 64GB?). No graphics card needed. Planning to run software like SeNuke XCR and GSA mainly, on a couple of VM workstations (so they dont conflict with one another).

I am definitely not a 'techy'. So please share your input.

You don't need anything close to that to run Senuke and GSA. You can build a pretty good system for SEO for about $5-600.
