I picked up a keyword domain in the hyper competitive weight loss niche The keyword gets over 30 million global monthly searches according to the Adwords tool, and has 280 million search results. But Adwords says its medium competition. The entire 1st page is comprised of sites like eHow, Wikihow, webmd, about.com. How hard is it to outrank such sites? I always felt eHow sucked but I have not had to try to outrank them before. So, its a brand spanking new domain name. I need a strategy to rank this domain. I also need to figure out what to sell on it / how to set it up. What makes the most bank in weight loss, clickbank? Lead gen to like jenny craig or something? I figure this is going to take awhile to get up in the SERPs. I don't mind, I am distracted with building up a few other sites right now anyway. But if I need to start dripping links etc. I was thinking I would throw something together on the domain this weekend and start the ball rolling. I can build awesome content, although in this niche I can't really do my own videos and whatnot because I'm a black hat computer geek and I can't impersonate a slim hot chick very well ;-) but I'm good with graphics / making it look good. Or, should I just try to sell the domain? One thought I had was to try and do a hybrid site. A wordpress authority site with unique content on the front end / home page, but with an attached auto-blog / auto-blog to separate categories and stick that on like a Syndication page or something. Make the site look really good and not draw attention to the auto-blog part. Would this work? If I could get to page 1, or even page 2 I have a feeling it would make money, I've never ventured into the weight loss keywords before though so I don't really know how they do or if certain things make bank and others don't produce anything. There is a similar site out there and they have no ads on their homepage or anywhere on their site that I could find and they are not a fee-based membership site. I can't figure out how the heck they are monetizing it, unless they are solely doing optin email marketing. Is there really that much money in the list in this area? Doesn't every spam filter on the planet just kill anything that comes through related to weight loss even if it is opt in?
