A popular site has said some negative things about a product of mine and due to their popularity this article shows up on the first page of google while more positive articles do not. The positive outweighs the negative by a 9 to 1 margin yet this article is still there. Is it possible to shoot this one down so that it doesn't show up on the first page anymore?

Spam it with p.ornlinks and it'll get de-indexed.

Copy the post to a throw away blog. Tweak the post date to be earlier than theirs and then send a DMCA take down notice to their hosting provider for copying your post word for word.

When that doesn't work... just stop caring because if you do get in a pissing contest they will respond with 5 more posts you need to worry about. The truth is that negative reviews typically don't hurt sales. For the most part they better manage customer expectations. Typically the more successful you get the more negative criticism you will get. You can't please everyone and you would be foolish to try. Respond with a couple press releases with customer endorsements and call it good.

If it is an unhappy customer then comment on the negative review that you work for the company and you would be happy to help them with their problems or issue a refund if they contact you. Then they just look like dicks for not contacting support before writing a review and people will see you have great customer service.
