Need some help with VPS EC2

I don't know if it's good forum or right box to ask .

I am using amazon Ec2 with remote desktop control. I was planning to turn it into an online PC. others could install

IDM
firefox
winrar

I cant' do anything. I download IDM installer, it's 0Kb. and every.exe is "...is not a valid win32 application"

Any idea? Thanks
