I have started a new site, and have been attempting to get it ranked in google. According to google it is indexed but It is not on the first 100 pages according to rank tracker.

I have been buiilding backlinks (or so i think thats what they are) by posting on blogs forums, facebook, twitter, answers, ezine, but according to any backlink website I go to find them it shows at most 30 and I havebeen doing it every day consistently this number should be much higher.

Do I have the definition of a backlink wrong? Is tehre something else I should be doing to get ranked in google? I have been reading on here and doing searches, and trying to incorporate everything I learn on here, but I feels like i am missing something basic

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

You should get a directory submission and profile backlinking too, you will people who are selling on BHW, I would say profile linking is good for you
