Well, I am opening a hookah lounge here in Las Vegas and I need some help on how to go about promoting it online. Since this is very geo targeted I wanted to get your thought on how I can go about getting this promoted through all of the social media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.... In this aspect I need real people so fake likes and friends won't do me any good. I wanted to get some ideas on how I go about getting this blown up online I have the offline portion taken care of through radio, flyers, etc...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas.

If its geo targeted then online won't do any good my man. Focus in blowing up in the Vegas area thru better promotion offline. I own a SMS marketing company and I've personally shot businesses thru the roof when they jumped on my service.

Apparently Jimmylegs has not done any Facebook marketing. Facebook is perfect for offline businesses if you use it right.

Set yourself up a good quality local facebook page. Make it active...post good content related to Hookah industry or your business.

Then using facebook ads you can target people in any age range, gender, and local...down to the city or zip code. Then under interest type in hookah or anything else related. Make sure the ads are set to run in the news feeds and take the time to make an awesome and engaging ad...your you can run an ad in the sidebar and for content simply say "Click like if you love Hookah."

Run some real specials on your facebook page with coupons and whatnot to get people to really become involved...like legit stuff..not this 5% off stuff. You want to get people to come into your place for the first time..so give stuff 50% off or even better free.

You will get extremely targeted ads in your local area to people who are interested in your topic who may not know about you but will love what you have to offer.

    Best of luck!

The website I am hoping to have up by mid next week, the Facebook and twitter pages by this weekend, and we have a decent budget for radio and print ads. We open in 45-60 days and just want to do everything I can to have a huge opening day. Thanks for the input on the Facebook marketing.

yeah - once you get it all up - in my honest opinion - i would not drive them to your website directly from facebook. Drive them to the facebook page first. Get them to like that..that way even if they visit your site and then forget about you, you still have them attached to you via facebook so they can see your offers.

To take it a step further...you want to build an email list.
Since you are just opening it is the perfect time to offer something free for signing up to your email list.
This will 1) Get them on your list so you can send them offers, coupons, etc at any point in time.
    2) Get them excited about getting something for free
    3) and most importantly, they will come into your business to redeem their free coupon...and hopefully purchase more stuff or at the very least be exposed to your business for the future.
If you do that right and can build your email list you could then drive business on demand with specials and deals.

How do you know there are 19k people that are interested in my business? My guess is a search on Facebook of who likes hookah?

The most important thing though if you are doing an email list or facebook is the offer. If I told you i would give you 25 cents off of a large pizza would you go out of your way to stop by my business? Probably not...heck...we all usually either lose or throw away grocery coupons for 50 cents or so off of items. But if you offered at the very least buy one get one free or even better something 100% free you will have much better response. You would DEF stop into my pizza joint if I offered you a free large pizza...and most likely would still stop in if I offered you free breadsticks with your next order.

It's all about the offer :)

Look a the image I attached in post 5.

That is the ad targeted I did real quick for people over 18 who live in Las Vegas who like Hookah and things related to it.

If I set up that ad those are the people who would see my ad....it would not show to 92 year old granny who is only on facebook to see pictures of her grandchildren. (that is unless she lives in Las Vegas and lists Hookah as one of her interests hahahaha :p)

If you dont target you are basically throwing money into the wind. As a new business you want to target as much as possible because you need the highest return on investment. Once you can grow you could start to target a little more broad to try to get people who are new to hookah to check ya out. But at this point in time you need to be laser targeted to help get that groundswell of interest in your business.

Hypothetically, if you were selling stylish modern purses and had to pay 10 cents for every person that walked past you...would you stand in the middle of a busy street full of men women children of all ages...or would you stand in the middle of Victoria Secret. Less traffic but much more valuable and targeted :) lol

just a random idea i dont know if there is a college in your town... but look if there's a confessional twitter/facebook for a college near your town and pay them to promote your place it's a CHEAP and efficient way to get good advertisement.

Now to get targets just steal followers off other local companies in your area/competitiors

Yeah - you could actually contact some of the followers of other local businesses in your niche and offer them a coupon if they post about your page on their feed with a link to your page. They likely have friends who are also interested.

Be careful with spamming though...but if you make the offer and incentive for them to share your page with their friends good enough then they will likely not report you....but be careful.

Lol I use every social platform and my team runs them all my friend. Facebook is great but most startup businesses are turned off by the high advertising costs.

There are plenty of other companies to use to get the same results. Social media is 1 way to market a real businesses.

BHW is not the best place for real offline marketing advice seeing as most the people here have never owned a real licensed business before.

TimeKing, speak to me and I guarantee success. Speak to most the wannabees on here and there just gonna show you basic crap anyone can figure out.

I'm not going to argue - but that statement is just 100% false.... and your follow up post shows that your main focus is not to help the OP but to scare and steer him away from being able to successfully market his business on his own and trying to bring him into using your services.

And what exactly are you doing may i ask? Telling him obvious bullshit like " Use Facebook mann!" Cmon thats sooo obvious Facebook is not for everyone. Stats are showing that teens are running away from it and the advertising costs are to high.

He runs a shesha bar, something teens run to, not the granny's on facebook.

Yes i run a legitimate business, something you probably have never thought of doing. I have real clients like supermarkets, bars, nightclubs. What real world experience do you have?

I dont have time to virtually argue with a guy who has no real world experience in marketing.
