Hi I would really appreciate if some one could help me. I am really a noob at seo so the question might sound silly to some. But all I want to know is , that my site is indexed in google as yoursite.com and not www.yoursite.com so when building links what should I use yoursite.com or www.yoursite.com

Pat is right all of the above will be treated differently thats why for starters it would be a good idea to make a 301 redirect so that all of these:

    http://site.com
    http://www.site.com
    http://www.site.com/
    http://www.site.com/index.html

Can point to site.com or www.site.com (whichever you prefer but i personally go for site.com ) This way if someone links to your http://www.site.com/index.html for example the link will go directly to site.com and it would be treated as a vote for site.com.

With that being said you should keep in mind that Google wont always treat the links the same even if you use redirects so its always best to try and link to the same url and use a 301 redirect for the rest of the variations.
