    i noticed that my site shows up in the search engine results without the www in the start of the url, it shows up like this mysite [dot]c0m and not 3w.mysite [dot]c0m ( sorry, not allowed to podt urls yet )
    is it bad? does it make any difference or effects my backlinks results?
    i am using wp 2.7 just upgraded from 2.5 and my site is at the nomber 1 position from 47,000,000 million results.

    thanks

    Google does see www.example.com and example.com differently so links to www won't count for example.com. You could add a 301 redirect from one to the other. Also in webmaster tools you can specify if you want www. or not.

    1)Log in to your WP admin panel
    2)Go to settings --> general
    3)add a www infront of your WordPress address (URL) and Blog address (URL) box

    Hope this help
    :)

    This isn't true.

    EDIT: ... unless your .htaccess, mod_rewrite rules, or httpd.conf are improperly written. If you're using WordPress and you haven't adjusted them yourself, they're just fine.

    Unless things have changed. I haven't really been on top of the latest seo news the last little while.

    It has changed and even 3 years ago when that post was written, the effects would have been negligible if your DNS entries and server were setup properly.

    Not if you're using WordPress, no.
    They will be just fine. If you want to follow suggested procedure, you should log into Google Webmaster tools and choose www as your preferred URL display type. HOWEVER, www is deprecated at this point. This means that unless your server isn't properly setup, it isn't necessary.

    I shouldn't have mentioned it. If it is a shared hosting environment, it probably is. If when you go to yourdomain.com, you are redirected to www.yourdomain.com and that is what you want to happen, then you are fine.

    Yes.

    You honestly don't have to worry about it. If you just changed it recently in WordPress, it is going to take some time to change everywhere else.
