Hi. US based online poker player here, suffering greatly since Black Friday. I know nothing about what you guys do here (I even had to google SEO), but some searches for alternate payment methods and setting up off shore accounts led me to a thread here.

Anyway, I'm looking for some form of credit or debit card that will be accepted by an online poker site (specifically Party Poker) that isn't based in the US or backed by a US bank, but that I can purchase without having to leave the US. I have a UK PO box I'm using, so I can even have it delivered there if I have to.

I'm looking to deposit somewhere in the area of $5K, so I'd like something with a decent limit. Currency is US dollars if preferred, but pounds or euros are OK. Anything else and the multiple conversion fees will eat me alive. Thanks for the help!

    Hi mate,

Don't know about Party Poker, but, at FTP, you are no longer allowed to deposit unless your account is non-US, regardless of funds method used.

    So, here's what I recommend:

    1. Change your account details at PP, to show you as a non-US resident, i.e. use your UK postal address as your address, and either get account details changed, or open a new account. On FTP, I was asked to provide verification when I did this, but it was easy for me because I'm actually NOT in the US, and never was ;)

    2. Once the account is no longer US based, use either Ukash or PaySafeCard to fund. In Europe, you can purchase these vouchers in shops, not too sure how to go about purchasing them online.

    3. The last issue you are going to have to deal with is how to withdraw your winnings (cos you are planning on winning, aren't you?). Again, was fine for me because I have non-US bank accounts, not too sure what to suggest to you if you are US-based.

Sorry, mate, BF was shitty for loads of people, hope you come up with a working solution.
    GL!

In addition to the above, you could check to see if Moneybookers will allow withdrawals from such sites. Alternatively there are vendors who (reportedly) sell European debit cards plus bank account, avcvcc.net being one example, and numerous 'anonymous' debit cards plus bank account that offer the same.

You can always buy those liberty reserve funded virtual cards. There are some virtual cards that can be funded via moneybookers as well.
