PS: What proof is there that .gov or .edu domains are better than regular domains for backlinks?

    Excellent question.

Back in the day, before Google became an ebay and amazon search engine, those institutional tld's had lots of weight. I see zero evidence of that today. Most of the weight comes from the institutions themselves, because having a link on whitehouse.gov surely is a privilege, but not because of .gov, but because of whitehouse.

Exactly. You're better off with links from authority domains, think major institutions, newspapers etc. Check PR, DA, PA, MozRank, Alexa and other markers of quality rather than just the tld.

    I think
when we talk about forum signature backlink then EDU or GOV is far better than normal domain forum because other forum are spammed for backlinks compare then EDU or GOV one's

Op, why don't you people search the forum before creating a thread as I know it takes 3-5 mints to create a new thread rather then that you can take 1 mint to search the forum for the question or stuff you are looking for.

I agree. I have seen no evidence of .edu or .gov backlinks being any more powerful. I have tested this somewhat (although not extensively as I'd like) and there seems to be no correlation.

I also agree (as I noted in my testing) that .edu & particularly .gov sites are far less spammed - ergo less OBL on them. The one trick for getting them to stick is choosing the right site for your comment and making your comment worthwhile & valid, not just spam.

SBA.gov will let you sign up for free. It is packed with TONS of forums and ranks usually to page two within 24 hours. Keep posting and you'll be on page 1 of Google in no time.

2 weeks ago I made this research. I found many threads, collected a lot of stuff (edu, wiki lists). Then I checked them to alive in Scrapebox and guess what? Almost all of them were dead.
After 3-4 days of scraping I made my own list, but my computer is slow for checking this list on forum footprints. So I put it on Fiverr, cause don't need it anymore. Here the link - http://fiverr.com/contentframe/give-you-a-list-of-7k-edu-sites-pr-from-2-to-9
Maybe you can do something with that.
