Need help with Wireless! PC Experts pls lol

I have a laptop and i DO NOT have my own internet.. i only use other ppl wireless.
My laptop catches some wireless connections but only 1 works and it's slow.... what is the best adapter or w.e its called to find more wireless and get better connection?

if anyone could suggest me...

The N protocol is much more secure so you won't be able to connect to most of the networks/routers out there.

My advise would be to get a better reception of the b/g protocols with a dedicated router and a hacked firmware (ex. Linksys with DD-WRT firmware).

new to this but i just found some info on that, thanks man!
but i will be able to connect to other ppl wireless right?
because my friend told me these routers are only to send out wireless not to receive...
 
With hacked firmware you can do that and much more... if you need help PM me, I can guide you how to get it working. :)

You might also consider getting a "war driving setup" basically this is for a laptop and is a PC Card or USB network card with a external antenna. The weak signals will come in much better with the external antenna and the setup is mobile, which will allow you to use war driving to do things like post to CL from multiple IP's

Just google "wardriving" and many times you can find the hardware on Ebay.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick bud. The fact that you can pick up Internet doen't mean you can connect no matter how good your equipment. The one that you can connect to is probably an open share connection.

What you need to do is see what security the other networks are using. A lot of people still use WEP and it can be cracked easily using WEP cracker and then you've free internet. WPA is more tricky but almost every wireless protection can be cracked if you have the skill or tools.

If I was feeling like using WIFI that wasnt mine.....I cant say I ever do that...but if i was going to, I would use backtrack linux..to ummm get the password....
 
i heard about the bt3 but i didn't had the usb thing that is needed
i actually have 2 connections 4 and 5 bars that are protected by WEP... i wish i knoe exactly what to do with bt3 and which usb "thing" to buy
and it's linux , im windows

I provide internet for my entire block. If you want to extend your connection, pretty easy. Get some linksys wireless g routers - wrt54g (version 4 and under are usually the best, but 6 will work.) Load DD-WRT firmware, and now you can make the router act as an access point and it will extend the connection much much further than any wireless card you can buy.

On windows your pretty much fucked up. What i suggest is to get backtrack live cd put it on memorystick and run it from there to sniff out key then use key on windows ofcourse you need to check out that your wireless device can be turned on monitor mode most devices with atheros chipset are capable to do that.
