I've been trying for weeks now to rank my website. I've placed all the right keywords, created decent content, and built backlinks through comments, forums, bought some from fiverr, and other tools, and I still don't even rank in the top 100 for my desired keywords.. What's the secret these guys are using?

I don't believe it's all about content and asking people in your niche to link to you, this guy somehow manipulated the search engines to rank on the first page of google for keywords like "online guitar lessons" for this page shredsource .net/online-guitar-lessons (remove space, can't post url's) As you can see it's a very transparent page with affiliate links. what is he doing? 18,000 backlinks, from where?

Can someone please give me some insight, or point me in the right direction? Anything, a Udemy course, an ebook, just anything that will actually help me. Not the extremely vague garbage I've been reading up on now.

Google has a very efficient anti-impatience system. Besides that, they can also filter Fiverr links. So... you're pretty much the perfect victim.

P.s: Be so kind and remove that url.

use the search bar my friend and read up on everything SEO, blackhat and whitehat. I would say go whitehat and use methods that are tride and true.
You cant rank a site in one day, and if you bought a brand new url your definitely not going to rank for a highly competitive keyword.
Your going to have to do everything right and get lots of good backlinks from legit sources not garbage blinks. There are a million and one ways to rank a normal keyword and get to the top quick.
but for a KW that everyone else is fighting for you have to be better than the next guy that your climbing over..you dig?
cant spoon feed you but you need to read read read and you will see which methods work and which dont.

i can say that you need to stay away from manipulating goog, shtty backlinks, and overuse of keywords and content. thats a given...keep going,..dont give up...

How good was your keyword research to begin with. If you have gone after high competition keywords, then it will take some powerful links to rank.

Fiverr links were a bad idea.

The other site you mention is juiced up by a PBN with enough power to rank for its targeted keyword.

You need to conduct good keyword research. If your keyword has high authority sites from for example: cnet, wikipedia, etc then you will be struggling. Look at the keyword that you're trying to rank for, put it in the google keyword tool, find out its competition, look at the first 5 pages of results and assess whether the top results are high authority, and look to see if their pages are SEO optimized. Are your competitors optimizing their pages with SEO? That means the competition is going to be high and you may want to pick a different keyword. Also check their backlink profiles on majestic and ahrefs. You need to do all this before you begin so you know for sure what the situation is and whether or not you will stand a chance.

Also, about that website for online guitar lessons I actually saw that video of the guy as well. He most likely was using PBN links. PBN links are something you should use as well, since you say you're new I'm assuming you don't have the resources and money to create a solid PBN, even if you have plenty of time on your hands. In that case I recommend you buy PBN links, for $100-$200 you can get a solid amount and they will surely rank you. I have never used PBN links to rank before but people agree that they are the best and most powerful links.

I don't think the competition is that high, it's in a training niche of basketball; 4000 - 10,000 searches a month. Do you know where I could get some powerful links using blackhat tactics?

The competition in my niche isn't that high, the first result is a YouTube vid and the rest are wikihow, active, mensfitness, etc. and they didn't really do any SEO, they got their naturally for their authority I'm assuming.

I checked that guys backlinks using one of those sites and i found the weirdest backlinks, they were mostly do follow comment backlinks from chinese and thai websites, I think he had a bot do this cause there were soooo many. I'm sure he has some secrets that he's not sharing publicly on his site. Anyways, if you don't use PBN's to rank, then how do you get your links? I don't really want to spend more $ unless it's guaranteed.

I used web 2.0s, tier 2 contextual links and tier 3 links. I did buy a GSA link blast from the marketplace and backlinks from fiverr. If you're not using PBNs then you need web 2.0s. Either you can create your own or buy them. If you haven't spent a lot (for example $30 or less) I would go ahead and pay for PBN links to be honest. You should do that if you have money to invest, which you should if you wanna do IM

Well if they're really that good then I could invest in some PBN links. I know you've never bought any, but do you have any suggestions on some trustworthy places I can buy?

Edit: Also, are 2.0's really effective? i made a few previously and the links i created were no follow

Right keywords are relevant rankable keywords with decent search volume along monetization opportunity. If your keywords are too competitive it will be really hard to rank even having perfectly optimized content and some back links. I would recommend you check the first page competitions along with second page competitions. If you find pages that rank in the second page are very good in terms of links and content, you get an idea that the keyword is very competitive.

keyword really isn't that competitive in terms of other SEO's, it's not really a product it's more about information e.g. "how to get a better golf swing" The top search results are just high authority information sites (like mens fitness), nobody doing SEO.

My website is pretty new, i guess it's just not worth it to try outranking established websites just by building links when these guys have been around since like 2006
