I have been doing SEO for a while and I am pretty good at getting traffic to my website and even getting click thrus to my affiliates, but I don't have the knack for making money.

I must admit I just started with affiliate marketing about 2 weeks ago and I haven't made a dime yet. I know it takes time, but I have the traffic and the click throughs . . . so time should not be an issue. In a weeks time I have had over 2,500 visitors to my new site and it generated over 400 clicks to my affiliates I have on the site, but no sales (or leads) yet.

Do anyone have any advice? Am I'm being impatient. What is the average conversion rate? I would have expected to make at least one sale with over 400 clicks. Do affiliates report in real-time or is there delayed reporting or does the actual sale have to clear in terms of product delivered and refund period over? I use CJ, Google Affiliate Network, and Linkshare.

My website is not the best designed and I know I can work on it, but it honestly is not the worst out there and is much better designed than many websites I've seen that make money on the web. Currently I use graphical advertising to get people to my site because of the low cost, but I target related sites.

Please share your advice and recommendations for improving my affiliate marketing efforts. thx

Without looking too closely, it appears it may be in your product suggestions or possibly that you are not pre-selling them well at all - otherwise (IMO), you should have closed a few offers out of 400 qualified(?) prospects.

What does your traffic think they are coming to or for?

Fooling them or not being related to what they sought does not help conversions (ever).

I have credit card offers, being referred from general sites (some credit card related but not all -- some just general in nature or retail). I use a landing page -- admittedly I am not the best when it comes to design, but the 400 clicks to my affiliates came from the landing page. It's banner ads that I promote so the visitor should know that the landing page will be credit card related.

Do you have any knowledge with Clickbank offers? I am thinking about switching to these products to see if I can get more out of it.
