    Hey guys,

I have been doing some cool projects using online marketing for offline businesses in the past, but it seems like kids in my area have catched up and I don't feel like wasting my time to get new customers who will want to skim me on the pricing. It just doesn't seems like it's worth my time anymore. So I am now working hard into building a renovation company with a friend and need to increase my online skills by at least 10 steps in order to bring some money home.

So I decided to I will move big time into the IM scene (I feel more confident now after reading so many threads here...). This is a long-term project and will be WH.

I decided to jump into a niche that is a passion for me, so it will be easy to write quality content for it: body building and health.

So I will build a site using a related domain name, and give away free info if the visitor signs up for my newsletter. I will also sign up as an affiliate at various related sites (such as bodybuilding d0t c0m). I will write articles and submit them to drive traffic. I am also a member at various places for cpa offers, so I could put some adds on it as well.

Now this is where I could use some inputs guys (any help will be greatly appreciated).

Should I also put a blog on my site? And if yes, what would be the best way to use it in order to drive traffic to the site? Is there any other stuff I should consider to make this work? (I'm not big on social sites, but have read you should not ignore them).

Some examples of the free stuff I could give away:
    - Basic tips for better health and overall energy
    - Diet tips
    - Training tips and program
    - Software to calculate the total calories someone should eat in a day (diet).

Could a free membership base site would be better???

    Thanks guys...

I would put a wordpress blog on your domain, write unique content for the blog and submit individual unique articles to the top 5 article directories to get started. Use the right plugins to take care of the essentials (seo, social bookmarking, etc.) Use an optin form to build your list and market cpa offers and other affiliate products. There's plenty of info at BHW regarding blogging.

If you decide later that you want a membership site, you can always add a forum. I would recommend starting with a blog to build up your readership. Once you've got a few hundred readers, then you can promote your free membership site. This way you avoid trying to build a forum from scratch.

Exactly, you should create a blog and write articles regularly. At least 1 each week. One tip for this, you can write them in advance so you sit one Sunday and write 4 articles and you are covered for 1 month. It would be good to do a bit more in start to have some content on site.

A good thing would be if you could do a research on yours niche keywords. Google Keyword Tool is very good for this. Enter bodybuilding in kw tool and check search volume on keywords. Then each of those listed keywords analyze again in Google kw. tool to drill down to a niche and find long and mid tail keywords. Check those keyword phrases in google with quotes and if you have less then 20-50k results and have a search volume more then 500 then it's a good keyword. Try to write an article about that topic and post it on blog. When you post it, then you should start to promote that article/post on your blog. You then promote it with article marketing, social sites and free blogs. You have a lot of services like wordpress.org and blogger that give you free blog service, you write some article and post there with links to your post (links must have an anchor text with keyword you are targeting and we found that with google kw. tool).

And yes never ever just copy and paste article from your blog, your blog must have a unique version of article, you can rewrite your article from blog but do it carefully so you don't have a duplicate content. You can use article directories for promoting your post. Just put 2 anchored(again keywords in anchors) links in article resource box. and post article. I suggest you use article distribution services like Unique Article Wizard ($67 a month) and Isnare ($60 a month but for "unlimited" distribution but has also a limited version with credits which is great cuz you can distribute 5 articles for $10 or 12 articles for $18 etc. You should also try soc. sites. I was reluctant just like you cuz it all looked complicated for me. But when I tried one guess what. It haven't eat me :D I tried second and before you know it, It become the core of my Link Building(SEO) efforts. But always aim for 80-20 rule. Use the sites that give you the most for your effort, so if you loose 3houres for 1 link, then f... it. Not to mention that you could get some traffic from social sites when you submit to them, but I personally aim soc. sites only for links :) There are social bookmarking sites and social news sites. Digg, mixx, humsurfer are social news sites that gives you nice ******** link (if you don't know what no follow and do follow are just google it). As for article distribution 1 note, submit to top 5 sites manually like imfh said but do use isnares distribution and when you get some money add UAW to your efforts also. Also if you have time you should check this service Article Marketing Automation, it distributes you articles to a network of blogs so you also get good relevant links to your posts. The same but more careful way promote your main homepage. By careful I mean to do it slowly.

You should always use slow promotion. So aim not to get more then 10 links per day because this will look unnatural and your effort will be for nothing. Make yourself a schedule of Link Building. But first you will have to find sites to which to link to but you have on this forum 1 post with listed 750 social sites and another list with 250 free blog sites. Go through and clean the list and about 25% of this sites will be usable. Do not use pligg sites or any site that have a redirection because no link value will be added to your site. Download RSS Submit from this forum and submit + ping RSS feeds of the free blogs you create. Also you should submit rss feed from your blog to rss submit(which submits to rss feed agregators) because everytime you publish a post you will automatically get 30-50 new links to this post. You could combine all or some of the rss feeds from your blog and from blogs you created for linking, submit to rssmix to get a new unique rss feed and you can again submit that rss feed to RSS Submit so you get new 30 links.

So remeber as a GOLDEN RULE that I say every time, create links to your site and posts but do it SLOWLY over time and diversify types of links. Do not use just article directories links or just free blogs links or just social news links. No, you MUST diversify for example in 1 day make 2 free blog links, make 2 social news sites, 2 social bookmark links etc. For Unique Article Wizard you can set how many submissions a day to use, and that is important so you gain links slowly over time. Even when you make anchored links, diversify those anchors, do not use the same on all sites, use keyword in those anchors but try to make it different. For example, if a 100 guys would decide to link to your page do you think they would all link to you with the same anchor text? Of course not :) And as for diversifying types of links. Do you think 1 site can get a links only from 1 type of media? Of course not.

On this forum 1 or 2 months ago someone posted a link to scanned Stompernets "Net effect" Journal, issue 2. You should find it and download it to learn about SEO but also there is an article that writes about "link bait" which is very good orientation what people want to see on sites. So that would be answer for a give away :) My point also for this is, if you give them some small 20 page pdf book with really good content that is not published on your site (that also has good content) they would sign up to your list without problems.

As for further education on SEO and link building, try to get and watch Stompernet "Stomping The Search Engines 2" video course which is very good. Also if you are newbie with SEO free "SEO Fast Start" e-book is good and quick learn for SEO basics. This e-book and that Stompernets course is mostly developed by the same guy so this are very good stuff. And yes, try to find as many stuff from Howie Schwartz as he explains promotion with social sites very good. He explains how to use authority of web 2.0 social sites to rank well on first page of google for terms you are targeting and not just 1 but more positions on page 1. And recently I've come across to some membership site Niche Profit Classroom that I think is very good. I'll probably sign up for their site but I mentioned them cuz they have some free (kinda trailer) videos they where they explain very simple yet effective keyword research. They held a webinar last night so I was up till 6 in the morning to listen them and it was worth it :) So sign up on their list.

For your articles on blog. Write very very good content and people will be eager to sign up to your list because we always want more if something is good:)

p.s. I didn't meant to underestimate your knowledge or something but I really couldn't tell on which level you are with SEO so I maybe explained something you already know but also some newbies will probably read this so this is also more detailed explanation for them :)

p.p.s. I almost forgot. Create different accounts for new social site submisions and also for free blogs. I mean, use RoboForm to make an Identity and use that Identitiy for about 20-30 sites. And another for new 20-30 sites etc. If will look more natural then to have same name and username on 200 sites that link to your site. :)

p.p.p.s.s LOL.. Use also regular Directories but also submit sites slowly over time. You can find someone for that in BST and Freelance sections who are providing submission for this.

    Remember slow&diversifed approach ;)

    Hope I was helpfull ;)

@dbomez, great reply! Full of info, I bookmarked and thanked you :)

Can you expand some more on article marketing, and what different services do. First time I heard about 'Article Marketing Automation' can you tell me what they do (besides what their site says...). Also iSnare blasts to 1000's the same article (non-unique), does that not violate what you said about drip drip.

    Eager to hear your advice.

Where do I find stompernet videos, here?
