Does anyone have a trick to find out the owner of a website?
I tried internic d0t net and whois but neither give enough
info to figure it out. One does give a name but there are 200 people
with a similar name in the UK.

They are both owned by a UK citizen but both are hosted with godaddy in the US. They are also both closed because of legality issues in their country.
I need to get the traffic from these sites, but can't figure out how to contact them.

Neither site had any contact information on them and one site did allow me to
leave a comment but it did not show any of the comments it says are
    posted there.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Why not try contacting them via the domain registrar. They are probably using proxies to protect their privacy

If they have privacy on their whois info, contacting the registrar won't do shit unless you are The Man with a subpeona or a big fish in the internet world like goog. When privacy is on a name, a forwarding email address exists via which you can contact the registrant.

You mention they are reg'ed through GoDaddy. Is the registrant name "Domains By Proxy" or are the contact email addresses ending with domainsbyproxy.com? That's GD's privacy service (people use the term proxies sometimes when they actually mean privacy, and that's confusing, proxies are a whole different deal).

If they don't have privacy on their whois info, and any of the contact info is legit, that's your best bet. The best "trick" in that scenario is to contact them via email, phone, or (eek) snail mail asking if they are interested in doing business regarding the names.

If the whois info is bogus you're basically screwed from getting the info easily, though there are some options you can pursue if you're that interested.

    peace - gregs.

They have privacy on their whois info.
What are my other options to purse them?
I am very interested because they no longer sell any product and want to
work out a JV for them to dropship our product.
    Any help would be appreciated

Maybe try contacting a few domain name providers about them.

I think that is what I am going to have to do.
They are hosted with Godaddy so I will try my luck with them.

Have you sent an email to the privacy email address? That gets forwarded to their real email. Tell them you might be interested in buying the names, increases the likelihood of getting a reply.

You could also look at what other domains they appear to have registered (there are tools to try to do this) and see if you can get contact info from any of those.

I was going to suggest them first actually. Thats how some companies are able to send out C&D letters. They contact godaddy for info.

Checked whois again and one actually showed up today but didn't yesterday.
    Kinda weired.
The other has privacy protection, so I contacted the company that is registered as the privacy protection company.
