    Hey fellow BHW members.

I need your help with an issue I am facing. To be more accurate it is more of a dilemma than a problem but let's move on...

I just purchased an expired domain with the following stats (according to ahrefs):

    Domain Rating: 15
    URL Rating: 16
    Referring Domains: 16
    Ahrefs Rank: Around 12 mil
The traffic of the domain: 0 - It seems like a "dead" domain since 2018

Now I have two questions on which I need your feedback:

    1. Buying that domain was a good move or not? (I am not asking about the money I spend, I just want to build a better understanding of the whole "expired domains" thing).

    2. Shall i just put a 301 redirect on the domain to my main site homepage, redirect to the niche-specific inner page of my main site (web design in the expired domain name and web design as the keyword of the inner page on my money site) or shall i create a landing page and then redirect to my money site via a CPA or link (0 traffic thought).

Thanks in advance to anyone who is going to read my thread and spend his time answering me.

The 301 redirect game is over unless you have a legit reason meaning redirecting relevant URLs from the domain you have bought to your current one. Dumping everything to your home page probably won't work. Or you can keep it as a separate blog and link relevant pages to your current website. Just be careful and don't overdo it, after all, how many links can you have pointing from one to another website ... also you have to ask yourself if it's worth the time and effort if you keep it as a separate website, hosting cost and writing relevant articles.

Hey there @bahus, thanks a lot for answering my questions and for sharing your knowledge on the issue I am facing.

Hosting cost is not an issue, I will host it on my dedicated server.

There is no actual use of the domain. I just want the link juice to land of my main site.

So, making a landing page, adding a free SSL certification and a cta button will be the best use of it, as far as I can understand. Is that correct?

That depends on your investment. As especially on the quality of those 16 referring domains.

I personally wouldn't bother building out a site with only 16 RDs. Redirect to a laser relevant inner page (category page would be best) sounds promising.

Thank you @tiiberius for your feedback on that matter.

    Thanks again :D

If you would like to test the 'power' of that domain, simply setup a WP site on it, and put 30 unique articles inside, and then track the exact match keyword ranking and long tail - it if ranks well, then it should have considerable amount of authority, and it's a good domain which can be used for various purposes, such as money site or pbn. You can also choose the lazy way of doing things by making a 301 on the domain, and divert the link juice and authority to your money site in the process.

This is not a strong domain very weak metrics you won’t get any 301 juice from it.
