my goal over the summer is to get a six pack.

My current work out is :
5 reps of 30 bicycle crunches
    5 reps of 30 situps
5 reps of 30 leg lifts
5 reps of 30 side crunches

    Is that good enough?
I've only started a few days ago, and my abs are still sore, so I think it's good.

Thats not a bad ab workout. But don't forget that to actually see your abs you have to have a low body fat percentage. This is one problem that some people don't realize. I hope everything alright for ya

    Yeah I'm quite slim

I also plan on doing cardio - 3-4 miles every other day.

My diet: mostly cereal and fruits. sometimes chicken.

Add some pushups to your routine. They are a core exercise and will do you a lot more good than just crunches and situps (which do harm to your back). They work your abs like crazy. They will also give you a nice looking chest, shoulders, and triceps. If you do a proper weights workout you do not need to focus on your abs by doing crunches et al as your stomach is used to stabilise most free weight exercises. Even squats and deadlifts work your abs while doing good for the other parts of your body.

Also, do you mean 5 sets of 30reps or 30 sets of 5 reps? oO

I am using almost the same work out,, I run 5km every day and do this workout like a rest day after a workout day

I am running now for 2 weeks,, lost almost 3kg and using this ab workout for one week and the 2 upper abs are showing up,, I am also doing weight exercises,, so I think I will not lose a lot of fat as I gain more muscles

going to keep this up for 2/3 months and I think after that my abs will look good

Do some Ab Ripper X from P90X. That's what I do! However, you have to understand that nutrition is as much a key to your success as the actual excercise is. Cardio is great. You also should increase your muscle mass because it helps burn the fat that cover those abs.

I've heard a lot of great things about p90x. Also don't get the p90x pull up bar just buy an Iron Gym EXTREME, its the same for about 1/2 the price

I have gym membership and a place where I can run.
I don't think I'll be needing to buy any fitness programs.

It's all about good nutrition and a good workout. And of course, the dedication to keep pushing and pushing those last reps, and a few more.

Don't forget it's also much about the food you eat. You will need to eat more protein to repair the damaged muscle fibers. You could use a protein powder. I personally use 100% whey protein. It tastes pretty good. And it works very well.

As said above, you need a low bodyfat% to reveal your abs. You don't even need to do any ab workout at all to get one. Focussing on compound movements will get work your core anyway but because you're working more muscle groups, you burn more fat overall, build more muscle and shift your metabolism to be predisposed to burn more fat. Mastering this cycle will get you a 6 pack, if you really must have one.

from what i've read you gotta work out the whole body to get good abs. yes you may be slim already but i mean have u ever seen someone with CRAZY abs who didnt have strong arms, legs or other muscles?

also working out compound muscle groups(bench press, squats, rowwing) will increase testosterone output which helps to build muscle as well. among increasing other things in the body which help you get abs and muscles

Doing that every single day isn't going to help much. Your muscles need time to rest, relax, and build. It takes 48-72 hours for this, so ideally, unless you're taking roids, you should rotate your muscle groups every day. For example do abs one day and then legs the next, if those are the only 2 you want to work (and have flabby arms).

Also, if you are just now starting your workout, go easy for the first 2 weeks. Your muscles aren't used to working hard and they need more rest at this stage else they'll just be cramping up.
