security concerns. every two months or
so i have to reinstall the program. :yield:

You could try Joomla, Drupal, Mambo, Typo 3, Cushy CMS, Made By Frog, Radiant CMS, Modx CMS, SilverStripe, Alfresco, Typolight, DotCMS, Umbraco, CMS Made Simple, and Movable Type.

thanx guys...

i'm sure there are many alternatives... :)
i was hoping to hear from someone
who is using something *better*
than wp and can recommend it.

i'm really sick of having to constantly
upgrade the software because someone
found yet another security bug. i installed
the latest version and a week later i had to
redo it. ugh!!!

"better" is a relative term. It depends on what you're trying to do with the site. I've spent about 50 hours in the last week fighting with Joomla, but it's been worth it. It does what it does better than WP. Hand crafting sites works better for some things. Using "site builder" software included with most hosting packages works better for some things.

I'm sorry Pimp, there is no single button solutions for every website.

What are you trying to do? The answer will help us recommend a more specific approach.

For some odd reason I want to send some money now to wealthy199.

It is not difficult to upgrade WP. Just click 1 button and it done automatically. There's a plugin could do that.

Yeah but the upgrade does not always go smoothly. I've corrupted my database during a "1 click" upgrade.

Depends what you mean by better, i think you're going to find that most open source CMS will have regular updates.

Drupal is one of the most powerful platforms, but it also has a high learning curve and less premade addons such as themes and plugins.

I personally like WP and find it to be the most practical option out there for creating basic sites.

We have been playing with Joomla for the last couple months seems like an great piece of software. Another option is typepad by it is not Free

Got to be careful with the auto upgrade. In a couple of cases it screwed up a number of our blogs that we use autoblogging software with

i'm having a turn at flatpress, and i got movable type to test.

i don't mind upgrades, but i don't like to get them every month.
and wp seems to have more problems that anything else i've seen.

I have been using the wordpress automatic upgrade. It requires about 8 or 10 clicks, but it takes about 1 minute and you are up to date. I have been using it without any problems for a month or so. Here is a download link.

thanx, but after the hassle others have had (database fried) with this plugin,
i'll try the other programs.

i know that drupal is a bit hard to use... not sure about joomla.

Jooma is not as easy to use as Wordpress but I believe more versatile; however I wouldn't say that Joomla isn't any more secure than WP just not as many updates
