Hi all, i'm targeting specific keywords in my city all related to one service ( building). i have started to build several websites each full of content to the specific keyword example - plastering London, painter London. would i be better to just load these websites with content for the search engines and then 301 redirect them to my main building company? This was i dont have to worry about design etc.

I look forward to your ideas and suggestions and thanks in advance.

I agree that Homer is cool ;)

About your question: well if you do that it'll set a major footprint....I would not redirect those. How about creating one good site and getting tons of traffic to it?

What you are doing is gaming the system. A footprint is something that is common to all your sites. It can be anything, up dating the sites from te same IP, using the same themes, or whatever. When google figures uot that this site is part f the network, they will go on a wholesale de-indexing tear.

The purpose of using a 301 redirect is to pass the authority from the domain being redirected to the new one. If the sites you are doing a 301 do not have authority there is no reason to do this.

You are making a mistake if you are doing this for a local business. You need to learn about local SEO, not IM SEO.

Hey thanks again for your help, your a world of knowledge. Ok i am ditching that idea as it clearly is going to fail. can you answer this question for me - should i register a domain name that is an EMD for a google autocomplete search term? When i type half the the search term into google it shows the EMD.

First, you should still check the exact match volume for that particular keyword before targeting it. You can do this by getting an Adwords account and using their Keyword Research tool. Second, you need to make sure the volume you expect is worth the effort (more than you think!) to rank there.
