I have a website that has been stuck just below google places. It is for a local term, like "keyword" "city" the serps look like this: there are 3 websites above google places, then google places, then me. I have been building good backlinks to it but it won't move. The other 3 websites above google places happen to have verified google places listings. I don't have google places listing. I have come up with 2 solutions. I don't know which one is better. hypothesis 1: The reason the site is not ranking is because it doesn't have google places. Google figures "this website doesn't have google places, it is not local. The other guys have google places, they are local, they get priority." If this is the case, I will get an address and verify it. hypothesis 2: This has nothing to do with google places. a few PBN links will push the site above google places, and maybe even to the #1 position If this is the case, I do have an existing PBN that I am using for another site. I would be a little nervous using it for a second site because of footprints, but I will do it if I have to. based on recent experience (recent:2014), which hypothesis do you agree with?
