    Hello Everyone,

Just looking for some advice really which I hope you can help with, I will explain my scenario from top to bottom and I would like you to give me your advice whether I am right or wrong.
Someone was providing a monthly SEO service on BHW I won't say his name just in case I am in fact wrong but I am also certain I?m not, cut a long story short, I had a new site which he was happy to take on paying over $250 a month, I was with his SEO service for 4-5 months and wasn't ranking on any keywords.

I decided to ask for reports, it took around 8 days to get hold of the most poorly built reports I have seen in my time with many duplicate links, it states on his thread he gives a monthly report, I wasn't too bothered as I thought as long as his doing the work I have no issue but I felt like I was paying for a service that was in fact low quality.

I went through all of the links which was apparently Part1 of 5 month report; there was a total of 133 links with only 5 links that were actually indexed which frankly I was very disappointed in.
I was also promised social signals to which he has now said ?he will look in to? which in my eyes is not acceptable. I understand I should stay on top of my site I was however talking closely with him on Skype on which he assured me he is working his hardest on my site.

I have checked GWT and can only see 14 referring domains and a lot of them have more than one backlink coming from them so I am guessing he is building links on the same domains which in my eyes is a bit silly as I like to have a vast amount of variation in referring domains.

He supplied me with a thread from 2011 stating that a link doesn?t have to be indexed for it to pass juice but I find it really strange that only the ones that are indexed are showing on GWT.
I?m not going to say 100% sure that links that are not indexed will not benefit the site but my point is from 5 months a small amount of links 133 and only having 5 indexed over a course of five months shows how poor the link building is surely?

I can supply samples of links when requested of the work he carried out on my site, if you could give me your opinion on the case I would be very grateful and like I said I will only mention his name if we come to a conclusion that he has been stringing me along with poorly built links and with half the promised links.

He has now yet again said he will provide me with the rest of the report but I have not heard anything since.

    Thanks,

    DMXSTA

This is not correct. Google will count backlink if and only if that page is indexed on Google. I think he has no idea what he is doing. Change your seo provider asap

TBH, I don't understand why you waited for 5 months before chasing up on reports.
It sounds a pretty poor service but it is biased because we don't know who the provider is or what they promised you.
Anyway if you have a grievance then shitlist them.

Green: He screwed up right there. If he doesn't offer reports, he should at least provide you with updates over the phone or via emails. He also didn't go through with sending the monthly reports like he said he would, which should have been a giant red flag.

Red: Bad link building? A social media marketing campaign that was promised to you but never delivered? You should have dumped him then, too.

Cyan: Is he doing some kind of churn and burn tiered link strategy where he's building links to those deindexed URLs and then pointing those URLs to your site? Either way, it sounds fishy.

Final verdict: He broke his promises, failed to deliver, and is using questionable strategies on your site. Find someone else.

OP said it in his post: he's using Google Webmaster Tools, which is now called the Google Search Console, to check if his links are indexed.

Woops, you're right! Thank you. I always thought links got indexed on their own if enough time passes? Do I have to do the same with articles and whatnot? As far as indexing

$250/Month service is 100% junk, you are really seriously about your business, $5000+ per month for SEO may be a reasonable price.

You for sure should find someone that actually knows how to do SEO. It sounds like it might be bad enough to warrant making them answer for the bad service in the shit list section depending on what was actually promised and delivered.

Which that is what you really need to look into after 5 months with their service, see what you were actually offered/promised when you initially became their client.

If it's for your business, then 250$/month SEO is just silly, c'mon.

Links need to be indexed to pass link juice, and in terms of results - depends a lot on your keywords' competition, but I'd think that 5 months and 1k+ would get you somewhere.

If I were you I'd ask for all the backlogged reports so you can see all the work done to your site, not just last month's.

This is exactly what I was thinking I did look in to Crawling VS indexing but it seems like this was something that was only valid around 2011. Sorry for taking long to reply I was way from the weekend.

Yes I will look in to this, I just wanted some input from other users to see what their feelings were, thanks for the information mate. I was talking closely to him at the time which he was assuring me everything was going to plan, I also have a friend who is with his service on which he too does not receive reports so I just let it slip which yes I agree is bad but he was telling me it's because I have over optimized my keywords which I have now changed. I have also been very busy but yes I guess I shouldn't put my trust in people and believe what they say as it look like I have been stringed along. I was promised the following each month:

    Monthy Links:

30 High PR/DA/PA (Some Niche Related)
    5 Static Site Links
    25 Web 2.0's
Many other links but didn't want to list as it may link to the SEO Provider.

    Tier 2:
    1500 Bookmarks
    400 Wiki links
    50 Web 2.0's

    Tier 3:
    20K Scrapebox links

Social Signals: 15 On each social media site, I did not list as it may link to SEO provider.

It's not for a business, sorry I should of stated, its purely for a niche money site that is not that competitive and after speaking to the SEO provider he assured me this is something he would be happy take on. My point is I am not receiving the promised links and the links I am are not indexed and at a low quality. However thank you for your input.

I have already looked in to changing my provider, as for what is promised please see my post above I have included everything I should be receiving on a monthly basis. Thanks UptonGoodwin.

Thank you so much for the detailed reply I honestly appreciate the help....

Green: It states on his sales thread that reports will be provided however I did get in touch each month on which he supplied me with blurred screenshots which didn't really prove anything but it put me at ease to make me think he is completing the work, I am angry at myself leaving it that long before requesting a report but like I said I honestly thought I could trust him like I do with many other people on BHW.

Red: To be totally honest I only checked this a week ago and noticed I wasn't receiving anything. I got in touch which he tried to ignore two times and then said he will look in to it, I know its my fault for leaving it this long but I have been so busy with other work and put my trust in him and he seemed to be a very nice down to earth guy.

Cyan: I was thinking the same to be totally honest but he was always assuring me that his links are safe and never caused a issue with any of his other clients he is working on. I checked the metrics of the sites he has put me on and to be totally honest they are nothing special. I am happy to provide you with some samples if need be to show you the kind of quality he is offering but only over Skype etc as I don't want to announce his name or give away any signs of who it is as of yet.

I would like to thank you again for the detailed reply mate, means a lot.

To be frank, sellers who don't provide reports have the advantage of not doing anything for your site yet making the money every month. I would avoid them, if not a full report, they should at least provide proof of work done.
