I used BlackboxRDP's VPS for a little while and noticed poor performance, so I'm now shopping for a VPS that has both speed and one that is legit (no crap cracked software on it, etc).

All I use it for is SEO tools, all the basics... but I need it to be F>A>S>T because I don't have the time/money to suffer problems like I have been.

So let me know if you know of a proven fast VPS. And here is the biggest thing... I need a LOT of RAM and do NOT want it to be a bunch of broken promises with "burstable" RAM amounts. Have had horrible experiences with promised burstable amounts that I never see.

wooservers. I've been using them 3 months -- no problems.
scrapeboxservers.com

Check RyTech Hosting, they have a listing here on BHW. I've had them for a while and haven't been disappointed... great prices, great service.

i recommend Hostamus, just search the thread in the forum =)

Well, i wouldn't be as objective as any of other members but i'm going to try to ;).

The main advantages of a dedicated is that you don't have any virtualization layer and you have a dedicated port. So if you compare a VPS with 1 core and with a little more RAM, the dedicated will be better.

However, dealing with the one you quoted, it is a great web server, or a great remote desktop for light tasks.

If you intend to run one of the following software the Atom CPU will be fairly a bit short :

- Xrumer
- AMR
- ZennoPoster
- 2 level of spinning with any tools for articles of more than 300 words

For the following SEO tools it would be fine :

- Scrapebox 2-3 instances
- BMD (limited to 40 threads)
- Wiki Poster (EWP , Wiki Bomber) as long as there isn't a second level of spinning
- Yahoo Answer Assault / Swipe
- Celestial Bot
- any others light tools

Well basically every tools mono threaded or limited threads wise.

If you decide to go with this dedicated, contact me through PM and i would offer you the Web Edition on this server.

For the same price of the dedicated with us, you could get a VPS with 1gbps port, 2 GB of RAM, and 2 cores, which would remain a bit more efficient for the usage of SEO tools, CPU wise.

Check out PowerUpHosting

Also they are running Thread in BST section

Also offering Discounts and top notch service

How does the speed compare to this Atom processor based dedicated? http://www.host-stage.net/dedicated-server.php

Is a cheap dedicated maybe a faster option than a good VPS?

It depends on the specs of course, but I always go with dedis for one simple reason. It 's too easy for a vps provider to oversell - so you end up with sub-par performance. Sure, on the paper you have a great machine but in reality you may get a shit performance. Of course this depends a lot by the provider.

Btw, you should search a lot before you buy. I 've seen the same spec'd machine ~$20 (without the 32 ips though). Google "kimsufi", that 's the 2G model.

Of course, you should always factor in the support the hosting company offers and not only price, since if you are not good with computers, the few $ difference can save you a lot of pain in the long run.

And I think that is exactly what has happened on the last two VPS providers I've tried. They're ok for a while, then within a few months my experience slows down a LOT. The VPS I got now has a quad-core CPU and 2gb "burstable" ram with 1gb at all times and it runs so slow that lack of memory kills Senuke at times.

I'm leaning towards a dedicated right now... only problem there is I got about a $50/mo budget. And I need to run things like Ultimate Demon, Senuke, and Zenno.

You should never buy VPS, instead go for Cheap Dedicated Servers, because by doing that you will get EXACTLY what you pay for.

If you decide to go the VPS Route you will most likely experience severe over-selling causing your setup to lag most of the time.

One Server provider that I've been using for ages and I reccomend to everyone is - www.LeaseWeb.com

You won't be disappointed by going with LW, and their internet speeds are very high as well!

@Georgebg

You're overreacting a bit. Some VPS setups have dedicated resources, so it's impossible to oversell it.

@OP
Check some VPS reviews to make sure.

@dbyrn: Even kvm and xen can be oversold. What kind of setup do you have in mind that forbids the owner from overselling?

What didn't you like about BlackboxRDP? Have been using them for a few months and haven't noticed any issues.

What I don't like is that the memory is dirt slow for me. It says I get 2gb, but I only see 1gb, I call and they claim it's burstable to 2gb but when I run benchmarks it performs HORRIBLE in large memory allocation type tests. But the bottom line is that Senuke chokes to death on it at times and throws a lack of memory error. I can't live with them, time is money and RDP is wasting my time with this BS.

i find 1gb of ram is not enough for serobot. it's *doable* -- but it's pretty painful at 1gb.
