My mom needs a laptop basically for word and sending emails. Nothing else really.

    Need something inexpensive. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Depends on what exactly you mean by "inexpensive"... $500?

You can get a pretty decent machine for that money... HP and Dell both have laptops that cost you as low as $400.

Buying a used one is also an option.

Take a look here - I have the same laptop except that the hard disk is 7200 rpm.

Its pretty decent - well worth the $400.

I was looking for something even cheaper lol. My mom doesn't need much. Just basic like emailing people. I was thinking of something like $200-300. Anyone ever bought a used laptop?

Check out craigslist. You can get laptops on craigslist for under $200. That's were I get laptops for my family. I picked one up just today for $140, a Compaq TC4200 with Windows 7 and Microsoft Suite for the husband to type on but I'm going to play with it too since it has a touch screen tablet-style monitor.

Try looking in the Classified section of your local newspaper. At least you will be able
to to go to the seller's house and try it out before you lay any cash down.

    Cheers!
