    Guys,

    1. What do you do for your homepage? I'm torn between using an ~1500 article targeting a keyword or just doing a basic 'welcome' page with some links to inner/category pages. I ask this because there are some who say it's tough to rank a homepage, opting instead to rank inner pages.

    2. If you had a url, http://www.example.com/best-green-shoes, but changed the article title (and subsequently, the url) to http://www.example.com/the-best-green-shoes, do I need to do a redirect?
I have this problem as I'm thinking about adding categories, but that's going to change the url structure of articles already been indexed. For example:
    http://www.example.com/the-best-green-shoes
    to
    http://www.example.com/shoe-types/the-best-green-shoes

    Cheers!

Re: #1, it's not that homepages are harder to rank, but thin 3-page websites are a thing of that past now. So instead of trying to rank the homepage for just 1-2 big keywords, people use inner pages to rank a website for TONS of keywords.

Re: #2, unless your site is getting a ton of traffic just make whatever change you want and make sure your sitemap updated in WMT. Google will correct the errors. If you're getting lots of traffic don't mess with it.
