Hello BHW members, I'll be building a couple of sites for the first time and have a couple questions about domains.
I know for registration you need to provide accurate information else risk cancellation, but I would prefer to not have my info show up from WHOIS searches.

- Is cancellation a legitimate concern when providing false info?
- Are there registrars that just don't care about false info?
- Is WHOIS protection (such as Namecheaps) actually effective in preventing info leaks?
- I know one option is registering under a business, what are ways to register one? (Or general resources regarding business registration)
- Does any of these even matter? Do any of you use your IRL info when registering domains for the purpose of ranking?

Thanks for reading and thanks for any answers/info provided.

After doing a bit more research on my own I've found some answers

- Is cancellation a legitimate concern when providing false info?
- Are there registrars that just don't care about false info?
It depends! Some registrars care, others don't give a damn. It's very dependent on what country the registrar is hosted in.

- Is WHOIS protection (such as Namecheaps) actually effective in preventing info leaks?
Yeah it's effective in preventing random people from identifying your site, but the registrar will always have that info on file, and may divulge it if given a court order.

- Does any of these even matter? Do any of you use your IRL info when registering domains for the purpose of ranking?
Yeah it does. Even if you're not running phishing domains registrars don't perform proper KYC, so just find a decent registrar and give false info. BSTS

So. That left me with the question of which registrars are suitable?
BAD: Internetbs, njalla, Flokinet
GOOD: BizCN, Todaynic (Eranet), shinjiru, r01.ru, cheapprivacy.ru, dnspod.com, reg.com

Generally, if you need to find a good registrar:
Do WHOIS on good SEO sites you find, then see what BHW says about the registrars
Search for Russian/Chinese registrars that accept XMR/BTC, then see what BHW says about the registrars

Today domain name registrars do not ask for confirmation your identity and theoretically you can use false information. But once there is any kind of investigation or abuse for your web site you might be asked to go through validation your information or you lose your domain name.
So having those things in mind you should be ready to lose domain name.
