I heard that there used to be an app out there that would "spoof" navigational searches in Google.

e.g. Let's say you wanted to rank for "best laptop mouse" and you are currently on page 2 of Google.

Then, this app go to google.com (via one of many harvested proxies) and it would enter "best laptop mouse."
Then the app would simulate a human user who is not finding what they want on the first page of Google results.
So the app would go to page 2, and click on your website.

e.g. it would basically send a fake CTR signal to Google that "This listing should be higher than it is now."

I heard it used to work good but was discontinued.

Anyone ever hear of this app?

I don't really want to buy one or anything I am just really really curious to know its background story.
