So decided to write an ebook on weightloss. Since I recently lost almost 30 pounds of weight I figured I have enough knowledge to do so.

I just finished the draft. Tonight I am making a cover and fixing a few things so I can release it tomorrow. I am going to give kindle a try.

The ebook is approximately 2500 words long so it is quite short. It is basically a list of tips that helped me out. The original idea was to make it 99tips and sell it for 99cents, but after doing a few calculations I am not so sure about that.

At 99c I make 34 cents per sale. If I want to make 100$ a month I would need to sell 295 copies of the book.

At 2.99$ I make 2.09$ per sale. I would only need to sell 48 copies in order to make 100$ a month.

The difference in commission is quite drastic. Do you think it is easier to sell 48 copies at 2.99 than selling 295 copies at 0.99? Or should I go even higher?

I am confident in the content of the ebook. It is of good quality despite the length of it. Anyone who follows the advice I give will succeed.

    Opinions?

Without getting the traffic you wont be selling anything, whether it $2.99 or $0.99 i personally would slap the price at around $6-$10 for the ebook.
Get the traffic in and you will make the sales.

I personally dont think it any easier to sell 48 copies at that price compared to $0.99

It will be published at Amazon Kindle

I know I need to get traffic there. The question was if a low price would help the conversion rates to go up enough for the profit to be higher than if it was sold at a higher price.

I guess I could start higher, in the 6-10$ range like you say. In a worst case scenario I could just take it down and put it back up with a lower price.

I thought about clickbank but not sure about it. I guess I could go with both

From what I've seen it feels like you need to charge something like 30$ and give away 75% in order for anyone to be interested. I don't know about the general opinion on clickbank, but I've learned to avoid anything that is being sold there... Also, even though I believe my content is good, I am not sure if I want to charge that much for it...

Any good threads around here about publishing on clickbank?

its is easier to sell at 2.99 because the junk books people churn out everyday are mostly priced at .99. So start at that price and regulate according to demand.

    After doing some reading I have decided to try the following;

    - Amazon Kindle
    - 2.99$

It seems to be a price that works well for many. I have checked my competition out on the top 100 lists and they mostly consist of bs...

Realease on Monday instead and then I will be doing some heavy marketing. Will set up a few sites and buy some testimonies.

I actually have a good feeling about this.

Going to start working on a few other books in the same niche in case people actually like my work.

One good advice: First release the book for 99 cent. As it is really cheap, it is more likely that people will buy it. This will improve your book ranking on amazon and you might even get a couple of reviews (if you don't get reviews, head over to fiverr and buy some of the review gigs offered). cheap price + reviews will help you ranking within amazon (dont forget likes and tags). As soon as you got some reviews offer your book one day for free (that is if you enroll into kdp select). A lot of people will download your book and I am pretty certain that you will receive the one or other free review as well (hopefully good ones). After this you should change your price tag and set it on 2.99 and make bank :) Hope this helps.

    Update:

Postponed the realease a few days. Price ended up at 3.99$. Ran a one day free promo and got 300+ downloads, #15 most downloaded in the category.

The promo just stopped and now I'm waiting for my first sale. Currently advertising on Twitter only.

A few sites will go live this week to try to get some buyers through search engines.
