    Hey everyone!

    I use WordPress and I backed up my MySQL database before messing up with it (and messing it up). I needed to get my Jetpack stats back and I followed one guide with editing the database. I changed values, but kept original ones. After changing the values, my website got this error:

    [h=1]Error establishing a database connection[/h]
    and even after I returned the original values, it still doesn't work!

    I tried with restoring the database I backed up 20 minutes ago but I still get this message!!!

    What should I do? Can anyone help me please?
    I will pay!

    u shud probably look for config mistakes with connectivity. i would first check wp-config file then db name and then username which has access to db.

    contact your hosting provider and explain it to them. They'll fix it if they know what theyre doing. That's what I do when I fool around with my site

    defiantly contact your hosting and see if they can help you, buy the way Ive been there before, needless to say I stay away from editing the database any more.

    Best thing to do is contact your hosting service.

    Funny thing is it might not be from your end since you said you uploaded the original back. All these hosting providers usually have this issue. I have a friend who uses ipage+wordpress, he sees "Error connecting to Database" like twice a week. But the good thing is its not for long, say 5 minutes and the website is back online.

    SO, here's the deal - you're hosted with GoDaddy, and your hosting isn't paid up.

    I saw this years ago on my own account, and I called tech support and they basically said "that's our way of getting you to call us"... so, OP, call them, and they will restore it!
