    ---- THREAD CLOSED 04/29/2014 ----
    Hello all,
Unfortunately last week it looks like google zapped my website from the rankings. The domain is http://www.simplecig.com. Can anyone tell me why? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you using Google Webmaster Tools? If you - you can check messages. If you don't see any new messages you can "Fetch as Google" your URL to re-index.

maybe you got a penalty, I don't feel like checking out the site but it sounds like it might be an 18+ niche.

It's so ironic your username is Master of Disaster :)

I just took a quick look and i can still see your inner pages (some of them) if i go to google and do a search for site:http://www.simplecig.com
I'm not sure whether that is residual leftovers until you are totally deindexed. like others have said go to webmaster tools add your site and see whats up.

If I had to take a wild guess I would say that you have been going a little too hard on link building with the same anchor text (just a guess, no research done on my guess).

you will only have a clear picture of whats happened if you log into google webmaster tools, add your site, wait a few days and wait for any messages to pop up. Once you know what you are dealing with you can then decide how to clean up the mess (i.e. getting an external company like linkdetox to do it for you or manually doing it yourself).

First chk WMT message. If no message then chk if only homepage or all pages hit? If it is only homepage ie most spammed page, then it is penguin or some spam filter. Also, make sure it is not indexing or DNS issue.

So this an e-commerce site and e-commerce site means = duplicate content issues ! I once experienced this problem with an e-commerce site and the site disappeared on Dec 25th 2012 and re appeared on July !

I was just learning SEO that time and i was doing random blog commenting for the main 2 keywords. Problem was there. too much of backlinks from the 2 keywords. I checked with my WMT ( seriously i was a noob that time ) and with html suggestion option i found lots of duplicate meta tags issues and lots of duplicate contents ( its normal with e-commerce site ).

I fixed the meta tags and used "rel=canonical" to fight with duplicate content issues.

One reason i think why my site too long to come back to its position was .. i couldn't remove the backlinks i created and i had no idea to balance the anchor text diversity. Most probably .. slowly the backlinks began to disappear until there was a balance rate of anchor text diversity and only then my site appeared on the SERP.

Look at your anchor text diversity here https://ahrefs.com/site-explorer/overview/subdomains/?target=http://www.simplecig.com/ Most of them looks stuffed with "electronic cigarette" ! try to balance them with other keywords as well. like e-ciggrette , e cig ... etc ... and generic anchor texts .. domain name, brand name ... etc.

Also do check for duplicate contents on your site !!

Hope that helps. All based on my personal experience . good luck

Thanks for the help. I took a look in webmaster tools and it looks like unnatural inbound links.

Back to the spammy links, majestic tells me that you have a lot of low trust links from sites with low trust.

Ouch, could be worse. Algorithms are harder to recover from.

It's time to start removing links, do not just disavow as that won't do anything and you will be risking any sort of recovery in the future.

If you don't know what you are doing you will want to find a link removal service.

Changing the url of any inner pages will cause the links to that page to fall away.

Cant do it with the root domain, but if you did a lot of linking to pages and posts, it will work.

Yeah, some really irrelevant low Q links here http://prntscr.com/3e9m50 I didn't check them all, but the random ones I checked didn't look natural at all.
You can just disavow them and file for reconsideration, but most likely they will want you to try to clean up the links and to demonstrate some effort.

Submitting disavows and filing reconsideration requests to show work completed won't work. They expect link removals to take place. Ask me how I know.

How on earth do you guys get your graphics so clear?

I hate to hijack this thread but this has been a problem ever since I started making websites. I do the graphics & images in photoshop, upload them to my site, but they NEVER have that "hi def" look like this guys ecig site.

The graphics I do, especially the letters & numbers, they always come out a bit blurry. Like the edges of the letters are bleeding into the background.

But I don't know why. What do you guys use to make your graphics look so sharp?

Maybe it is your browser showing low quality images.

maybe the product has some legality issues associated with in the region that your site is based out of. they are not fad approved for one but thats just my 2 cents might have nothing to do with it
