My Uncle owns a museum/history website for a large city. I'm trying to brainstorm and figure out ways I can monetize the site so that we both can make a profit. Just to give you some information about the site, people usually go there for information on the city. He does have an online shop, but it doesnt do that well. A simple redesign could help get it more attention. The Alexa ranking is only about 750,000+ but the backlinks this site has are really impressive. This is all complete white hat, so many of the links are "click here" or "link". They aren't optimized terms for the site. What I'm thinking is this. Since the site is an authority for Boston (not the real city), I could create pages that are for Boston Tourism, and see if I can get the site ranked at the top Boston Tours, Boston Hotels etc... I'm thinking this would be still a little difficult but the large backlink base and authority of the site will help. From there maybe I could sell advertising space or run an affiliate program maybe? Any other suggestions on how I can monetize this site?
