So, one of my sites is back to its primitive http mode due to the expiration of the ssl cert.
I am wondering if google will treat my site differently from now on. When I say that, I mean would i get less ranking? There will a mixtures of http and https version of my sites in google index?

If i go ahead and set canonical to all of my pages and posts, would that help to keep my current ranking steady and traffic?

There could be many scenarios I am not concerned of.
If this is something that can do harm to my site, please let me know.

Thanks

What`s the reason you are not using https? We are in 2020, you can use let`s encrypt if you can not afford 5 bucks a year for SSL.

Could have a weird impact because of the different URLs but why not just renew your certificate?

This is the reason. Godaddy does not allow to use 3rd party ssl on their managed wordpress hosting service. Well, that sucks!
and $79.99 is a big chunk of money for just ssl. I know some guys will say otherwise but it is for me.
That's why I was thinking of going without ssl.

You can also switch to Cloudflare and enjoy their free SSL feature :)
I would love to but above image and message answer why I can't.

Change from Godaddy and get free SSL on virtually any hosting. Godaddy sucks to begin with so it is not like you'd have a reason to stick around.

Then ditch GoDaddy ASAP, dont stick with such crap. This is something that should be allowed and your hosting should not tell you what you're not allowed to use or whatever...

You do not need to install certificate when you use cloudflare.

Use cloudflare and your traffic will route through cloudflare servers and you will get free ssl.

GoDaddy are leeches with all the extras they charge for. It's bad enough they charge for domain privacy, but this is a rip off.

Namesilo are the same though, use their hosting and you have to use their SSLs.

O Yeah, I am gonna change my hosting today.
Godaddy sucks big time. When i told them about migrating, they tried to honeypot me with a ssl promo.

True brother. And believe me, I am one of them.

But anomalies happen. This is just one of them :)

i don't get what justify them selling at that price? does it have some extra benefit
since most hosting provide SSL for free, some $5/year, or $27/.lifetime

Yeah I mean I would never do domain and hosting from the same company it is just set up for issues. Imagine you take their free domain offer with hosting.. renews at tons of $$$, what if you want to transfer the domain? What if you want to move hosting...

I prefer domain external and then just get a host, can quickly pick up and move. Most now have free letsencrypt i would not pay a penny

HAHA isnt it a good idea to boost the business, we should implement the same to oversell and leech money from customers.

Most hosting now comes with cpanel auto ssl which is free.
For ones like namecheap that wants you to buy their ssl, you can use free ssl like letesencrypt.
I am using namecheap hosting and using letsencrypt ssl.

I understand you start with cheap hosting at first for some deals. But you should quickly move out.
You could just go with another host for few bucks.
