Hey guys I am wondering what your results are with target niche blog commenting? Ill share mine below.

I am kind off afraid about blog commenting because of all the shit results and comments I got from service providers over here. So I did not wanted to ever do it again for my first tier. But I did and my plan was to keep it high quality and targeted. So no comment on a pizza website, with a comment back to my horses fan site....

I tested this out but I got mixed results with this method.

How did I find those blogs to comment on?
    Used google :)
What I did was find blogs/websites that wrote about my topic in the last month (search filter)
Did not wanted it to look spammy and comment on pages or posts created 10 years ago...
Did not used spammed to death blogs but only moderated blogs.

    Keywords used
I used my main keyword maybe only 10% the rest are names of fake people with a link to my websites innerpage about that topic

I wrote a comment about that topic and had a quick read trough his post to write a comment which doesn't look spammy. 1-2 sentences max

    Results
So 2 months later 3 of my keywords or targeted websites went up, one went down 2 stayed the same... So I am not sure what to say about it?
I did only send 5 comments for each page I was targetting so 30 in total. Maybe a little to realy test whats going on.

Anyone doing something similair, what are your results?

Yes you need more posting to get a better sample to verify your data one post every 12 days is not going to move the needle.

I placed those comments in a 3 day time frame, but I forgot about it and just remembered I did this. So thats why I posted my results over here.

    Keywords are low competition

    Your sample size was small.
If you post on relevant authority sites then you should see an improvement.

I actually get a lot of good traffic from niche commenting....off site factor are worthless because of no follow...can even damaging if taken to extreme measures...you have to make sure they are active blogs(as in people are actually on them...not admins ;).) Everyone know about the whole google search for niche keyword blogspot...It really does help though. Takes 10 minutes to make 50 backlinks which is dead on for the traffic you looking for.

Blog comments on authority sites with content will always work. Try again but instead of doing it how you did it, try and upload the scrape through moz or scrapebox, and check whether it has any da/pa attached. Ideally should be above da/pa should be above 24 to have any real effect on your serps. Once you do that, run it through a software to check obls, again should be low otherwise the linkjuice is too diluted. This is a general strategy anyway, also remember its not just about anchor diversity, its also good to chuck in lsis as well. The most important thing however is dont just write "great info" always apply it to each particular article.

The way I work out roughly how much linkjuice ill get is I divide the pa by the obls, I do that for all the scraped links gathered in a spreadsheet and then I choose 100 of the highest. Not an exact formula but it gives you a rough idea, especially if you were picking moderated blogs. Also make sure to use blogs from different cms's.

My results are prtetty good traffic wise (if you go to SEjournal or places like that you'll see my ugly face all over the place) but serps..not so good.
Ok, but not brilliant. Most blogs are nofollow (which still matters a bit) and popular threads have a LOT of OBL's on them.

It is a good traffic source though - but it never ends. You have to keep going back. Topics fade away so you need to be always commenting on the latest topic to get traffic. So not an idea if you have many sites, you'd be chasing your tail commenting and doing little else all day
Serps...meh. Much better ways to make links for serps

You need to make sure that the blog posts you are commenting have a high PR, low OBL and that the links are do-follow. These are hard to find, you won't get far by searching them by hand. Get yourself a copy of Scrapebox and a few private proxies and start scraping and blasting.

Well my target isnt to get some traffic but the backlink and seo that it will give back to my website. I am still not sure how it works since, I am using just related blogs. They dont have a lott of obl since I wont post to that and most posts are fresh and not years old. I am still checking how it works for the serps, it just takes me a few minutes a day so I might test it on a test website and see how it goes. Or else maybe some nice tier 2 links for my tumblr network

Well if they have high pr, or the page it means the page has been there for a while and I think that looks unnatural so I prefer to comment on a fresh post, less than 2 months old, moderated, so they dont have a lott of OBL. Pr might come later and maybe it doesn't who cares its a link that is related. I have scrapebox but I only use it to find expired blogs at the moment, dont see much more use for the tool.

thanks for the tips, but again I think it might hurt to comment on old pages. And the comments I post are related to the topic, and you can see I've read the post. Thanks again.

I will check some more and maybe set up a new test site to check it out!

    Thanks

Comments work quite well as long as they're d0f0ll0w. They're easy to do and pretty fast. Most important thing though is to post on moderated blogs because if the pages get spammed to death is potentially a crappier link.
