    Background
The last niche site I built was 2 years ago, and then it was all manual with no sense of SEO, white or black hat. Last year I discovered this forum and started using some techniques for about a month. About a year after that, and after not updating anything, my site crawled its way up to Google page 1 for one keyword, and page 4-10 for another. (It was initially at 4, but it's dropped since and I'm not sure how to proceed with that yet.)

    My First Niche Site
From what I remember, I started out just doing what I knew. Spammed my site on Facebook, Reddit, Digg, etc manually. Eventually I bought some targeted traffic from here, which I believe gave it a boost in page views, and for the time made me happy to see around 80 people coming into my site everyday. I also believe I bought a small .edu backlink package. I haven't been active with the site until a month ago when I decided to check out my adsense account. (I've been pushing for the first $100 adsense check for years since I was still a teenager in hopes of earning money online.) To my surprise, I had made $10 that month. This is major for me, since I've been struggling with barely $1 every month. I also decided to remove a CJ ad from my site, and have the full 3 google ads instead. My rate doubled. And my first $100 adsense check finally came in the mail yesterday, after years of waiting. :)

    Current Monthly Stats:
Daily unique visitors......: ~600 (It rose to ~900 after publishing a new article a few days ago.)
Daily total visitors.........: ~700 (up to ~1000 after new content.)
    SERP............................: 2 / 3 / 31 / 83 (Four main keywords I check.)
    Adsense.......................: $19

    The Future of Above Site
I really like where this is going for me right now. I'm not sure whether I should try to do anything about the last two keywords (SERP 31/83), though I'd love it if they were both on page 1 as well. My only concern is the Penguin/Panda updates, as they're pretty new to me, and after reading a few things, it has me concerned about what to do next. I came back a week ago, and before reading about these things, I bought a 650+ social bookmarks backlinks package from BHW (sorry can't post links yet, but the topic is called:RightBacklinks™★★★ The Cheapest Social Bookmarking Service Ever! 650+ Bookmarks for $5 ★★★).

Question is, did I hurt myself or help myself? I used my search keywords for the anchor text, instead of generic keywords like click here, check this out, etc.

Aside from that, I'm planning to add Amazon Affiliates to the site and see if that takes me anywhere. I'll probably post an update to this eventually.

    The Future of Other Sites
So, because I think I have a stronger idea of what I'm doing now, I've bought two new EMD keywords. One of them I plan to be a niche site like above, with multiple articles/pages, while the other I want to try out as a 1 article MNS. The prior is set up, and all I have left to do is some blackhat SEO. Originally I was set on xrumer blasting it with backlinks, but now it seems pointless.

I wanted to get advice for how I should start up here first, but I was inpatient, so I bought this high PR package on fiverr: [I will manually create 10 real PR9 ******** backlinks from high authority sites, Anchor Text, Google Panda, Penguin, Angela + pinging, dominate seo for $5]

I've read that after Penguin, as long as you have high PR backlinks for your keyword, it doesn't really matter. True?

    Conclusion
I just want to thank everyone in this forum that's helped me out over the past year to get to where I am today. I might not be the best IM, but I'm getting there, and boy is it fun. So for anyone out there struggling, keep struggling, you'll get it one day. And lastly, I want to hear some thoughts on what I've done so far, and maybe get some advice or guidance on what I should do next. Thanks all! :)

    Hey,

I really like you, why because you are probably my age, i am 17 at the moment. However I want to give you congrats on adsense it was one of the first methods I used for monetizing as well. Now from the start I see that you are getting a lot of good site rankings but what eventually happens is that you website would start to become authorative, this just means that it becomes a lot bigger with a lot of pages ect. Instead of investing in more sites I would first make sure that this one is doing well, I have had the experience of trying to monetize over 20 websites and find myself bullshiting half of one site to bullshit more work for another.

Love your website and I guarantee it will love you back...and understand how to monetize ect.

Also it does matter to have more then just high pr links, although it sounds nice and pretty bulletproof. Try and make sure that you get great link diversity, meaning that it is not all just "Main Keyword" all day. I love to use other things like " click here", "here", "check this out" and things like that.

    Good Luck!

    Thanks :D

Thanks, and I started around 17/18, a few years older now, but still heaps to learn. And you're right, there's a lot of different ways to monetize. Right now I'm going to keep my first site going, and as an authoritative site, I'll probably experiment with different monetizing techniques. On the side, I'm going to attempt to create some MNS too, because it's something I want to try out that seems fairly easy to do, once I get the ball rolling.
