You should really wait for indexing before creating backlinks.

Think about it logically. How can a site that doesn't exsist on ther SERPS have other sites pointing to it.

Never happend to me, but you can just submit your link to some sites the google bot often crawls. So make some bookmarks or write an article. You'll get indexed fast. I just used those statistic websites for a new page and it got indexed over night. :)

it is .com and basically i blasted it on all those sitestats sites, and made link exchange with 85 links... and yes it is the new wordpress (which should be posting to google automatically) . its a really really strange situation...

i know its stating the obvious but you are checking to see if your site is indexed by using site:yourdomain.com in google and not manually going through the serps

have you checked your logs for spider activity?

    tried pinging your site?

I was having a similar issue. For me it appeared that Wordpress created a virtual robots.txt page that disallowed all user agent. I found a wp plug-in called ?pc-robotstxt? to fix the issue, then my site and its pages were indexed shortly after.

The issue was that the physical robots.txt file was never created as it would have defaulted to it with the settings I put in; but again the plug-in is probably easier as the wordpress settings are already in it.
    ;)
