The guy i hired just made a bunch of 2.0 to my blog that look like it was a story out of a novel or something! Totally unrealeated although readable. I told him to remove the links and i dont think he made that many but say he doesnt remove the links would say 30 of these give me a penalty? Should i disavow? I cant lose this site its my offline brandable business!

If it's your branded site and they won't remove them, I would disavow them. Nothing like building a foundation on shitty links.

I know how you feel.. been through the same crap! Hired a guy to push a side project of mine due to lack of time, he told me all about how he'd rank it and the usual BS.. only to spam the crap out of it with a bunch of really really really crappy web 2.0s

There's only one thing you can do really, go through your backlinks and disavow everything that looks fishy. As to your question regarding penalization... it depends on the links as such, your websites ranking beforehand etc etc...

Yo, hit me up on Skype and I will show you how to build it up properly. I have some free time to chat today.

if its only 30 links then better safe then sorry I say. Disavow is your best bet. That way it keeps your backlink profile clean

Disclaimer: I don't do blackhat, never really been penalized

That being said, 30 2.0 links most likely won't get you a penalty unless they make up the majority of your link profile. Google is generally pretty lenient if most of your tactics are WH. I had a client where 50% of their links were comments (and trackbacks) and sitewide links on a blog network and they didn't get penalized. If they make up a small portion of your link profile I would probably just leave them... they could help. If you're worried though disavow, like jstover77 said, nothing like a foundation of shitty links.

I would not worry much about them as they are readable and simply unrelated. Having links from them would not result in a penalty, but build far more related backlinks too.

I agree with you here, but I have seen sites go into what I like to call Google Purgatory. If you hit a site with a bunch of shitty links right off the bat, Google seems to put you into a type of sandbox, where you site gets trapped and takes a whole lot more effort to become trusted. In this case I would agree though, 30 links shouldn't have much effect. Just make sure to concentrate on quality from here on out.

Ive had to do this before with shitty web2.0 links. All you have to report the links as spam to the web2.0 contact form. Then they will delete take care of the problem.

And that's what happens folks when you opt for price above quality!

Ya not at all. I paid this guy $300/month and the last guy I paid $400/month and it was almost as bad. Price means nothing around here.

That's what happens when you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

Have a read here, might help you making a decision next time:

$300, go over the link I sent you and analyze yourself if you can do something with that money.
Bear in mind a proper business has to pay taxes, employees and so on, so if you want quality, $300 or $400 aint gonna cut it. All you will get is automated stuff and maybe a couple of decent articles.

I dont think $300-$400/month is peanuts to rank a low comp local business keyword. Not like I am trying to rank for fat loss. But maybe I am expecting too much. One guy said it was unique native english good quality, which was a flat out lie.

Again, simply go over and read what I posted.

Note that if you are trying to rank for fat loss, you should prepare a budget of 10k+++ and not dollars...

Fair enough, low comp local keywords, if that's the case then do a better research before hiring someone.

Hard to do better research when half the reviews are not legit. That can be said for any service around here. Or it is just a weird coincidence that every service I get that has good reviews sucks just for me.

You can blame whoever you want to, but it won't lead you anywhere.

My suggestion is that for next time, you get the person offering the service on Skype, have a face to face chat with them and ask them for samples and so on. It is your duty (and not theirs or the mods) to find out about whatever you are going to purchase. And if it seems dodgy, just simply don't buy it. Either that or DIY.

There are scams and shit offers all day long, and BHW is not saved from it. The only way to avoid it is to do some research before buying it. Ask other buyers via private msg, try to get some reports, etc.

Anyways, I am sorry for the hit you've taken, but surely this will be a lesson for your future business moves.
