Hey guys, Just wanted to share my personal results after Penguin 2.0 update and just give you my personal opinion on ways to recover. After the update I waited a few days to see how my sites were reacting and I noticed a pattern on all my sites. Some of my sites were affected and some actually improved. The sites that were affected actually drop 20+ positions on Google, however the biggest issue with these sites was little to no social signals and very little anchor text variation which still seems to be the major factor with the penguin updates. My sites that were affected had a anchor text percentage of 20%+ for the money keyword plus other closely targeted keyword. I also noticed that the sites that were not affected all had something in common. The anchor text for money keywords and closely related terms were all below 10%, in fact I created some new links dropping the percentage below 5% for each keyword and it actually increase my rankings by 5 spots for all keywords. Also the sites that were not affected had a 25%+ of links going straight into the naked URL and a well balanced number of social signals across all social networks. Summary: From this info I believe that anchor text variation, naked URL links & social signals seem to be the biggest factors to recover from penguin 2.0. I would recommend that if you were hit to check your anchor text structured and try to create new links variations to lower your overall percentage for all your targeted keywords. Try to keep it below 10%, below 5% is even better. I would also recommend to build some social signals. I actually did all this for one of my sites that was hit by Penguin 2.0 and it has already improved 10+ positions. Please keep in mind these are just my conclusions from my own personal research using my own sites and I cannot guaranteed that this can work for your site because I don't know what type of SEO you are doing. Hope this info helps someone..
