First of all, your friend would be feeling happy that his friend who is you cares about him, like today you can't easily find those friends who really cares!

4 years?? Well that's not even enough for attempting murder. Very bad, Where do you live?

My deepest condolences. May the resting of those who have gone before us calm the unrest in those of us who remain.

It is rather thick that the prosecution can decide not to prosecute him because your mate used to smoke and ride his bike. Grrr. Plus, it is interesting that they say he does not have an "adult criminal record". He must have a juvie one then. Plus, he has only been an adult for a couple of years so that's not saying much.

Even if a bike ride was smoking weed and riding in the middle of the street (not saying your friend was, of course!), 4 years and 3 probation is a very short amount of time for that crime. In some places driving so much over the speed limit is reckless driving in itself.

    A) If he was going the speed limit, he would have had time to react to a biker in the road, on the side of the road or where ever he may have been.

    B) If he was going to speed limit, he would not have drug the poor man for such a distance.

    C) He shouldn't have been driving, since he had no privileges (according to the article).

    D) He left a dying man on the side of the street! Isn't hit and run a freaking felony?

I'm terribly sorry about what happened, man. The legal system is terrible. It sounds like the judge was trying to make the other side happy with that weed stuff. Karma's a bitch though. That' Clark kid is gonna die or get hurt in a racing accident or something.

I looked at what you presented, it's a shame. but we have to look at what has happened, the city only had 1 case and can not really prove the rest. they did the best they can.

now on another note: I do bike from 15 to 70 miles daily, I can attest to how bad people drive. my 2 weapons on choice that I have with me are my MACE, and my 3 inch nuts. people will hit you with thier mirrors and most will stop to see if your ok, those that don't you have a good chance of getting them at the traffic light. at the traffic light you can knock on the window and tell them. the nut is for the asshole whole keeps beaping his horn at you.

This is the kind of thing that makes me disheartened when I read about the proceedings happening in this country. A man shoots his horse, humanely of course, to put it down, and it's considered animal abuse and he gets 10 years.

But you kill another human, accidentally, but don't feel enough remorse to stay at the scene and try to help that person. That makes you as cold blooded as some of the well known serial killers. Yet you only get 4 years? The system is designed to let the criminals run wild with relatively no jail time.

I apologize for your loss, my deepest condolences, but four years is no where near what he should have received.

My condolences for your loss. The legal system is messed up and there is no question about it. A few years ago, my wife's best friends little brother got shot in broad daylight by his friend in the back and you know how many years he was going to get? 3-4 years!!!

This is what the District Attorney told his parents. There was no way they were going to accept this and they contacted the local newspaper reporters, new channels in town, and used any and every resource to let this injustice come to light. After almost a year of fighting the case, the guy got 14 years. I could go on and on but he still only got 14 years.

Obviously you want him to be there for 28.
    I understand.
However it was not his intent to kill anyone.
That is what the judge who sentenced him had to weigh against.

It is however my opinion that he should have been publicly executed
    - not for engaging in behaviour unsafe to the public ...

...but because he did not have the sense not to.

Involuntary manslaughter and streetracing? That's 4 years. There's nothing wrong with the legal system.

Sorry for your loss, but there are a plethora of good reasons why involuntary manslaughter is not reason to ruin another person's life.

I hate streetracers to an equal degree, but intent is the key in the legal system.

On a different note: most of these reactions are unethical on a higher degree than streetracing.

If I offend you in any way with this comment, note that it was not intended to do so.

    Take care.

    WTF!!

Man thats totally fucked up! Im so sorry for your lose and his family! Motha fucker should be dragged down the street and then hung in prison! Ok he made a mistake which the racing is bad enough but the part he LEFT the scene and ran! thats the part that he needs to be hung for!

"Involuntary manslaughter and streetracing? That's 4 years. There's nothing wrong with the legal system. "

Thats crap! ok i understand the Involuntary manslaughter but leaving the scene should add at least 10 years Period, if he would of stopped and helped the kid! and called for help and stayed and dealt with it like a man then yes i can see 4 years! But not running like a coward when the dude is dieing in the street!

Again Sorry your dealing with this shit right around the Holidays too!

If it was my Friend or family id wait until he got out of Jail in 4 years then id drag his ass down the street!
