So I have had trouble logging into my Instagram for the past week and finally today got an email back from support saying that my account had been deactivated, but they reactivated it and that they were sorry for the inconvenience. Keep in mind that this is my personal account that I only use to follow close friends, and have no pictures on the account.

I try and log in through Facebook and it gives me a random accounts name, asking me if I want to log in. Confused, I checked the account in my web browser and it was one of those female accounts. It had uploaded 8 new photos of some random girl, with a bio saying to come chat with her on some random scam site.

Is this some new form of promotion? I've heard of creating these accounts but am so weirded out that someone took over my own account to post spam on. My friends are still following the account, which is how I confirmed it was my old one.

Whatever the case may be change both your Instagram and Facebook password while you figure out what the fuck is going on.

I ended up just deleting the account (it had followed over 2,000 accounts) and made a new one under my email, after changing passwords.

Same happend with my friend a week ago. "if you liked my profile.. go to the site.. tinyurl.." All her photos was just deleted and replaced with like you said "random girl"
She had not even tried to restore it, cuz of laziness...

hacked account, i guess for some people is easier to hack accounts and use them as they are old and resits better to spamming than create new accounts. You should use longer passwords and never login through strange sites ;)
