    Hello Guys,

    About Me -
I am a 17 years old (don't worry i won't try to brag or get attention about my age or any of that unneeded stuff), and I am trying to obtain $25,000 before entering college (18 months).

I entered my IM "career" around 5 months ago, since then I have made small improvements. I have averaged around $100-$150 a month, with all my revenue being through Adsense. I messed around with a few small MNS which made some money, but got destroyed in the recent EMD update.

Recently I decided that if I want to turn my hobby into a full fledged career, I need to go where the big money is obtained, offline.

My Plan To Achieve This -
I will be contacting small businesses without a website, and offering them free websites inturn for signing up through my Hostgator affiliate link.

What I Need To Do To Obtain My Goals -

    1) Since I am an introvert, I need to break through the mental block of calling businesses on the phone, and arranging meetings of sorts.
    2) I will need to develop a working script, and the most efficient way to make these websites.

I know this will be a huge journey, I hope I can keep on track. I have a feeling that if i stick to it, I can well exceed the $25,000 mark. Thank you!

Day 1 - I have set up my website which displays why I am giving out website to small businesses. I have also sent out around 10 emails to business that do not have websites, hopefully I can get at least one to respond.

Wow, how much affiliate commission can you make from each sale? That seems like a lot of work for such a small amount of money!

    Awesome journey.

Here is some tips that will definitely help.

    1. Use a tracking pixel in the email so you know when/if they read the email. For example: http://www.spypig.com/
    2. After the email is read call the business DO NOT wait for them to decide. Your email is not enough to persuade them to have a website (yes a lot of people do not want a website because they don't know what it can do for them)

I will be following this to see your progress!

    Good luck.

    Here's one point :

If you can afford an advertisement in your local paper offering free websites, you'll get a huge response guaranteed, i've personally done this and had a huge response, but the work is a lot specially having other ventures on the go at the same time, so i ended up discontinuing it.

Anyhow wishing you luck on your venture and let's hope you reach that goal.

So you get paid out in one go? Wow, hostgator are brave, people could sign up for one month and just leave, while they had to pay $125 in commission! It doesn't seem like a viable strategy but oh well.

If you are 17,but look like 20+ /no offense, but direct face 2 face with kids is not taken seriously most of the time and you might get negative/funny reactions, although that if you know what you are doing(have the right packages for SEO/team,etc.,then just be more confident)/ it will def. be far easier ...
    Anyways,GL!

    Update - Day 2 -

Today I didn't have as much time as I wish I did but here's what I did.

    - Called 6 Businesses -
    1) No
    2) Said someone was working on a website
    3) Said no
    4) Hung up immediately after I explained what I was offering
    5) Said they would get back to me via email
    6) Said someone was working on their website
So all in all, not the greatest results, I also sent 6 more emails to businesses I have not called up yet.

I received an email from a lady that found me through my website, after talking to her for a little bit via email, she stopped responding. Hoping I can still get a sale from her.

In the next few days i'm looking to add a form that clients can fill in to explain what they want their website to look like that will be emailed to me so that it can save time instead of talking over the phone or email.

Thanks for the support, I'm hoping for at least one sale this week.

You're on the right path you just have to turn it up a notch 6 calls is no where near enough, You need to do 100.

It's not easy and takes a lot of dedication.

Thanks for the tip, I'm still getting used to calling businesses and asking to talk about business related aspects. I'm a fairly quiet kid, so i guess this will be a practical journey to making money and breaking out of my shell so to speak.

You are on the right path. People would tell you try this instead or that..stick to this so you dont get overwhelmed. Another thing - IGNORE the negative comments, don't even consider those thoughts for a second, it will diminish your self esteem even more.

Remember this as well, when you go out with friends, or in a public gathering, talk about your web designing buisness as much as you can, people always eavesdrop, you never know who around you needs a site or knows someone who does. (This truly works). With time, your name will spread mostly by word of mouth, which is the cheapest advertising one could ask for.

Another tip, when you come in contact with someone who needs a site, dont start all that sales thingy some IMers do, just treat it like a casual conversation and slip in some sales tactics when needed. Believe me, this works.
