That's decent. I got an HP laptop a few months ago from newegg for about $700. I hope you didn't more than that though.

I usually don't like Acer laptops. Although they are pretty cheap, I had one that was covered in very cheap plastic. I now have a macbook pro covered in a sexy brushed aluminum.

Anyway, you have some great components there and because of that it should rock. Take care and careful with it :)

That's really cheap for such a good package, you really did well. And my sister uses Acer, their stuff is next to Dell's quality.

I got my parents both 1GB RAM Acer's a while back and they cost £200/ea, when I saw this one up for £270 with it's specs I was pretty sure that I can't go wrong and if I did just put it on eBay or something lol, glad to hear I made the right choice buying it though :D

I'm too embarassed to take a pic of my desk at the mo, it's full of empty/half full coffee mugs from last night, got a laptop on it that was taken to pieces around a month ago and never put back together because I got bored of fixing it and someone has written cleanme in the dust behind my monitor, I think I will do that now lol

    # Operating System:Vista Home Premium

You owe that setup a better operating system than vista. It's equivalent to buying a brand new Aston Martin and then letting your 2 year old drive it home :)

I'm not buying another PC until Microsoft 7 is on it :) It would feel like a waste reformatting a brand new PC to run linux on it. But you know you can always upgrade and Vista can't really be that terrible.

the specs good but the quality of the laptop feels cheap, i help out as an IT consultant for a client of mine, i have always recommend the Dell XPS series laptops for him, he hammers his laptop daily, this was going to be #3 Dell XPS in perhaps 4 years, others lost, dropped, etc you get the idea... however the machine i specified for him he was reluctant to spend that much when he saw how much a similar Acer was... so he bought the Acer, a week later he gave it to his secretary, and bought the Dell...

For me ive started using my little Dell Mini Netbook about 95% of the time now, its great - i also have gotoaccess to connect to my main desktop and take control of that...

I've got a Dell XPS for my main machine, power hungry or what, sometimes it wont turn on because of power failure. Other than that it's a great machine, already started to get a bit noisy (The fan) without doing too much with it though and I've only had it a month.

    Edit With More Details:
    Dell Studio XPS 435MT
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
    3GB RAM
    64-bit Operating System

nice, im due to upgrade my desktop but thinking about hitting up an Intel7 barebones package from tiger direct with 12gb/ram 1.5gb hdd & asus mobo for $800 - i like the barebone systems because i can choose my own video cards and case, etc :)

the only thing about the dells im not struck on is when you open up the box its usually pretty sparse and not that upgradeable, ie the mobo doesnt usually have many spare PCI express slots etc - i opened up a similar gateway at bestbuy the other day (with some funny looks) and was surprised it had a decent mobo with a few extra slots for dual graphics cards etc

i saw the HP blackbird in a magazine a few months ago and that looked badass but the spec on that is now ever a little outdated...

I was actually told by my PC guy to wait until Windows7 has been released and get a PC with at least 8GB RAM, glad I didn't though because my other PC completely died on me a couple of days after getting this one and my laptop a week before. Laptop needs to be restored but I'm waiting upon an IDE->USB to get data off of the HD before reformat and PC wont even allow me to access Windows setup so I'm putting that down to the HD I guess lol.

This is totaly true :) Couldn't have said it better. But i just hate vista ....

As for your Laptop. You could boot it up in UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD) and take off the data yourself. Or doensn't it boot at all ?

As for the rest of the laptop thats some good stats especially for that price :)
