@op hope you found some info here too

If anybody would like to find out auctioneers for seized goods in their area (well i know this is so for the uk anyway, not sure about overseas) just go your local police station and ask them. They will tell you. The police has to get rid of all those goodies they seize from all those naughty people, it doesnt get returned like you would think they sell them away to the public at auctions - furniture, eletronics, kitchenware, whatever. If you can find it on ebay you can find it at police auctions. I think the airports do the same. I think these are nice places to start out for people who want to start an online business selling things.

I was looking into the idea of buying those storage units in the Seattle area. It turned out that they were letting auction houses come in and clean out the units. That pretty much killed my idea.

Airports, Police-Stations and Storage-Facilities...these are something, ANYBODY of us has right next to our door, so why not ask just tomorrow... Good ideas, thanks guys (and Ladies)!

By the way:
"my neighbour is making a Killer on ebay"(animatronico1) or even better:
"My grandmother's neighbors make their living selling on ebay"(MichiganManiac)
sounds soooo clichee-like ;O)

"So they buy the entire unit, bring a truck over and load it up, bring the stuff back to their home, catalog it, take pics and upload it to ebay."

...I think it is the better goal NOT to buy it first...less hassle, less risk, same money. And if not this Stack, than another. That's a goal going for I would say.

@turner: "a few guys on egay" sounds a bit weird ;O)

Your neighbors can be making a killing for now.... They are up for a rude awakening, or at least a reality check. Never quit your job if you are selling on eBay! Specially if you are selling on eBay. I went from 22k in profits a month to 0 dollars over night. All because of the system that eBay employs which gives other sellers the ability to flag your auctions and get you banned in no time. If someone comes in with a similar product, and they notice a glitch or a mistake in their auctions, guess what? They can be flagged and removed from eBay.

Selling on eBay is like having a business in the hands of the devil... It will be lucrative as it goes, but eventually, it will all fall apart underneath your feet. Rest assured, eBay and Amazon can make you lots of money! I am out of the game, but boy the money I made!! Wish I can go back, but feepay and Amazon can both go to hell!
