My Media Buying Nightmare... Thoughts?

It wasn't a waste of time, you invested $1300 in media buying knowledge.

Persist, twist things and test test test.

I've heard adult media buying is extremely difficult unless you have a large budget. You should just try regular offers.

Hey Humble, I think the biggest problem is, you chose to promote adult, plain and simple. Porn is so freely available and so saturated freely that this doesn't me surprise at all. That you failed, I've tried Juicyads, didn't make a return, tried exxoclick too but was quick enough to pull out and ask for refund. Exxoclick might work if you have a bigger budget and be able to advertise on the good sites, but porn is usually a fail I think.

Next time try something mainstream non adult, and I think you could probably do better, I haven't tried mainstream myself but I'm very interested in this and it always excites me so if you want to collaborate and learn together on making this work PM me so I can give you my skype. It sucks working alone at least this way we can both try to earn something..

I had a terrible time with media buy also, even with a subscription to that site that reveals other people's media buys, the best you'll get is probably going to be .15% clickthrough rate, if you want I can send you a bunch of charts I have. I had the best returns with ppv and getting people to directly look at my landing pages.

You're right.. PPV is better and has a similar concept but you don't need nearly as much of a budget. People see your landing page directly and it's a super targeted traffic source.

I disagree. The good ppv networks want a deposit of $1000 now. You could use the money WISELY with media buying and get a better ROI. You just have to take it very slow and methodically. People just come in and blow their budget so fast in media buying that they never learn how to do it correctly.

Take $500, test out 20 different sites with multiple ads/landers/offers, at least one of those should be profitable. Rinse and repeat.

LeadImpact has always convert well for me and it's only $200 for the first deposit and $20 per deposit afterwards. It's the same concept, take it slow and test only high traffic targets. PPV is way better but it might have a greater learning curve. That scares most away from learning it.

Lead Impact is $1000 now I believe.

There are a lot of URL scrapers that identifies people's niches in LI, you setup up a campaign with zero people bidding against you, the next 2-3 days someone bids against you.

Same idea with media buy. Just be aware of that going in. My niches get scraped, I scrape. Yay.

Definitely make sure you are using a tracking solution like iMobiTrax or CPV Lab. You don't need a big, expensive VPS until you are serving a ton of traffic...BUT, keep in mind that speed is VERY important. If your landing page does not load extremely fast, the visitor might drop off.
You want to analyze the sales funnel (ad > landing page > offer) and find out which is doing the best. Once you find a winner (spend a good amount on EACH FUNNEL to get the data. Total funnel spend = cost per click * total clicks to funnel), separate that one out and run it. Rinse and repeat.
I've been running adult CPA offers for awhile now; I'm around $100 in the red overall, but I've spent 1/4th as much as you and made back more than you have. I was converting very well, I just couldn't get the cost per lead to a profitable level.. I know a few people who are making tens of thousands per month in revenue on the adult niche, so it is possible, it just takes a lot of work.

3 year old LI account with a $20 minimum deposit for sale if anyone is interested.
Shoot me a PM if interested.

Your on the right track BUT here are some pointers.
Not enough banners seriously 10 banners? come on bro you need to test over 30 banners. And from that your gonna hone in on maybe 1-5 banners. 10 banners + 4-5 landers is too much with such a small budget. It should be 10 banners 2-3 landers. Each banner should get 10k imp maybe 15k.

Landers- did you rip them or make them? Best option is to rip them and then find the winner and then optimize it.
Here are your mistakes:
Not enough banners (sounds like you had enough data on each banner X2 to tell you it wasn't working)
Spent too little on too many sources. Should of just put 1300 in 1 source.
Didn't test other geos if you setup 10 campaigns expect 9 to fail at the start since you aren't use to it
Also not a mistake but a pointer is that Denmark and Germany are competitive. These guys have it optimized.

My advice is to stick with it, your going to need to spend 10k in media buying experience to be able to make it work and once you have adult media buying working for you ALL media buying in any niche is the same.

Adult niche is just like any other niche, its not hard because it is "adult", its only hard because you haven't mastered media buying.

Someone gave me a line of credit of 10k a few yrs ago in media buying. I lost 9k and when you owe 9k and not know how your going to pay it back dude that is such a scary feeling, like i was getting sweats thinking about it at the time, then i took a step back, looked at what i did and my mistakes with that 9k, I wrote down all my mistakes and how I could of done it better and then that last 1k put me where i am today.

Stick with it op, your a boss and your gonna get it.

porn is definitely not a fail, its the niche where a LOT of money is. Adult works and will always work as there are always horny guys. Nevertheless, its pretty hard to find a winner campaign. But once you find a winner campaign this campaign alone could make you five to six figures. This is the beauty about it - especially in the adult niche you can scale like crazy as theres nearly unlimited traffic.

Thanks for sharing your story as we just experienced the same issues, however decided to go back to the drawing board and make some adjustments. We are targeting 2 niches and the bigger of the two we would take all the leads we can get. Anyway we felt this pain after much due-diligence, but we are still plugging away
