My LOOKS will cause me to lose sales. Any direct/email WS0 that really works?

Hey ya'll. I'm sick of downloading b.s. WS0s and my eyes almost bleed everyday from reading all the WS0 sales pages...

Are there any email/direct-mail WS0s that actually work? I can't do face-to-face meetings... I'm not lazy, I literally cannot do them because I fear that discrimination will lead to a lack of sales (seriously!). I'm pretty (thank God) but I dress a little differently from other girls. :p

    Any recommendations?

Rofl if I had to come up with a random text for a shirt, I would not have thought of that.

But I still don't see the problem. If you have professional clothing, how can you dressing differently be a factor? Maybe you have some crazy piercings everywhere?

all i want out of this thread is a tshirt that says "420 smoke weed allday everyday fuck the system", seriously.

but to contribute, like others have said, and i mean just give this a try, i know you are thinking it won't work but just try it - pro up a little bit, maybe go more modern than traditional with your style so that your haircolor/piercings/tats/whatever kind of work with it. your whole look could be eyecatching and interesting to these otherwise bored execs you're trying to reach. i'd give it a shot, good luck.

Some people are very conscious about their appearance and its one of the challenges for them when dealing with a client in person. You feel scared about facing the client and at the same time conscious about what they think about your unusual appearance. If your appearance makes you look & feel weird change it. You have to learn how to be a chameleon and blend in your personal and business life. Last week was a sad 10 year anniversary of me starting @ corporate world. You should think of a business meeting of like going to a club - dress to impress. You have to make yourself stand out from other applicants. If you sell yourself as a clean cut, pretty girl you can be a weekend goth or whatever the scary look you have. Its your first and only shot to get a new client. You could be the best at what you do via email and experience but personal appearance (looks, the way you're dressed, the way you talk, etc) can instantly disqualify you.

Change your appearance or find something else to do or outsource sales to someone else. My 2 cents

Aappearance opinions greatly differ, depending on profession, location, and age. I'm originally from the midwest. Up until recently, in the small hole in the wall towns, the only long hair that was acceptable on a man was a mullet. Even though it can look more professional when styled, but people misjudged greatly simply because of hair length or certain words said. People automatically assumed sexuality or drug influences from simple things like hair.

In this area, they are about 5-10 years behind on style trends. What is becoming acceptable or mostly acceptable in one area may still be taboo in other areas. As singingsleep said, use it to your advantage. Tattoos are becoming more acceptable. Unless its facial or on the neck, those could be covered with pants or a long sleeve shirt. Gauges, just don't wear plugs that are too offensive or eye catching. They make skin colored ones for a reason. Maybe design some that is for the company, or something that they support. Money symbols maybe lol. Spacers can be used too for other piercings. They don't have to be completely removed, just don't make them extremely obvious.

I have hair an inch below my shoulders and snakebites (for those who don't know, thats both sides of the bottom lip). My tattoos are not visible so those don't matter. You CAN get clients even though you don't always look 100% professional. I wear clean black jeans instead of slacks cause I prefer jeans. And I have even worn a beanie for meetings on windy days. I normally wear captives in my lip, I put in labrets and use clear balls so that they don't draw much attention.

From my experience, someone who is serious on buying still buy if you know how to sell them on it. Have them focus on paperwork and reports, or give demonstrations. Video demonstrations are more personal then text via email. Maybe call them first and ask to email them a video, or get permission to mail them more information about it and include a dvd with a video presentation. If they see you on the video and are still interested, then they shouldnt care that much.

I am really curious as to why you think they would discriminate solely on looks. Could the OP give more details? Hair color, piercings, tattoos, hair style, speech, weight (large or small), dress attire? Surely there are some compromises you could make.

I have a friend who dresses quite interestingly.. has blue hair and always wears big army boots.

She was just promoted to the head of a department at an internationally recognised (and one of Australia's best) University's and no she is not in the arts faculties.

The people will judge you no matter what you look like, it's up to you if you want to work with them.

If they want to think less of you because you dress in a certain manor. Stuff 'em.

Hun, why would anyone know what you look like over the phone? Get on the horn and call people. You don't need to meet face to face. If you know how to sell and you are selling a service that makes them money, who cares what you look like?

Work on your substance, not your style.

I have long hair and countless tattoos and piercings. In fact most of my piercings are on my face. It's how you portray yourself in these meetings. Dress smartly and you'll be fine. If you act confident they'll look past what you look like.

just come off like and eccentric genius. pick up a couple of free clients so you have more credibility (your prospects don't need to know they are free).

I'm confused. If you're concerned about how you dress, why not dress professionally just in front of clients?

i dont get it, OP says shes pretty and has formal business clothes so it must be something different thats the problem. maybe she's of a different race/religion than her colleagues in her niche (could explain why she dresses a lil different from other girls)

or maybe Autumm is right? who knows lol :p
