Blah blah blah.. I want to give back to the community for all the awesomeness I've learned... Blah blah.. You know the story. Alright - this idea just came out of my ass, but I figured I would put it up here for all you fiends to rip apart. This tweak is for those of you with Twitter or Facebook accounts that have thousands of followers/fans/friends i.e. established accounts. This would work good with a Shez Blog Twisted autoblog. Pretty much, if you've been blasting free iphone, giftcard, free anything email/zip submits to your followers and you've been getting poor conversions, try doing this to spice things up: STEP ONE: Find a popular offer = Free iPhone, Xbox, etc.. one with a good landing page design. STEP TWO: Head over to Flickr.com and type in "My new iPhone" or other related item to your offer. Find a random picture of some burnout, kind of overweight dude holding up his iPhone - one with decent to average quality image, a little grainy is good. Here's a perfect one I found on page 1 of search: hxxp://www.flickr.com/photos/mentor972/690252175/sizes/o/ STEP THREE: Write up a quick post on your blog along the lines of "Thanks to everyone that participated in our contest - congrats to the winner (insert made up IM handle or name) who was the lucky winner of the brand new iPhone 3GS!" Don't be afraid to milk it, creating a fake top ten winners and awesome prizes they won. Put the photo right below, set the date to 3-6 months earlier, close comments and hit publish (assuming you're using wordpress). NOTE** If you're automatically posting to twitter/facebook via TwitterFeed.com or something, make sure this "previous" post doesn't tweet out. Depending on what you're using to manage your automation, the options will vary. What you've just done is created an event that previously happened which you will use to link in the new post which you'll write in the next step. STEP FOUR: Write up a post announcing a new contest, or part two etc.. Put the details, with a nice photo of an out of box iPhone etc (again from flickr.) Here's the Ninja Switch: Don't forget to mention the previous contest and winner, with anchor text to the "previous" post in your new post. This will instantly build credibility for your contest, and sway any skeptics who actually click the link and see john doe with his half shaven face, bags under his eyes and new iPhone in hand. Put to enter contest click here. Insert your CPA affiliate add for the related offer and watch those email submits go through the roof (I'm speculating). If you need to "hide" this page from your CPA network, then do whatever steps necessary to accomplish this. When the contest is "done" write up a new post thanking everyone that entered, put up some winners (fake) and new winner (fake with new photo from Flickr). That's it. Keep everyone updated with fake contest news via Twitter during the process. This could be spun a few different ways, but utilizing Wordpress' built in back dating option allows you to create fake events and credibility to link to in your new posts. This is perfect for fake contests and cpa offers TIPS: I always try and match the colors of my site with the colors of landing page/CPA banners I'm using. This will help conversions. Also, put a banner of the same CPA offer you're linking to in the top right of your sidebar for the time being during the contest - two chances for email submits. Also, try finding a picture from flickr that represents your follower base. If your twitter account is promoting a site targeted towards teens, find a pic of a teen holding their new iPhone etc.. Again, increasing credibility and conversions. That's my "Back Date Contest Method" Brain fart transmission terminated. If anyone is already doing this, great minds think a like. Not my style to rip people off - no bad intentions were meant for you. Peace. btheory.
