So I started to build quality web2 properties to test power of linkwheels and web2 for a search term that get combined 40k hits a month for singular and plural. It boosted my actual site from zero to 7, but my web2 props are on 1 and 2. All it cost me was around 60 bucks for a mix of blog posts, socials and wiki links.
I guess, now it's time to build a couple of links to my main money site.

Are you using the same kw as anchor texts for your 2.0s? Don't use the anchor texts you are targeting on your money site for your 2.0s. Otherwise they will obviously outrank your money site.

Who does G trust more? Some brand new tld which is your money site or a tld on say user1.wordpress.com in the form of your 2.0.

Don't worry.. Just blast the web 2.0s with SB or Xrumer.. You'll be just fine.

Haha, will never do xrumer blasts. Anyhow, regarding anchors for web2 I was using broader terms than to my money site and I did make a lot of variations, while anchor to my money site was always the same. I guess the link anchor variation made the difference.
I am stepping this up one gear and doing a wheel / money site combo for a 400k/month search term. Let's see if we have similar success.

I wrote around 5 to 10 articles of 300+ words plus images for each. All handwritten and hand made. Took me around a week and I was scheduling artcles to be published every 5 days or so.

My web2s are 1 and 2 on Google for the site they link to. They can't move any higher.

But they can move your site from #7 to maybe #1. The more juice they'll pass, the better for your site.

Don't listen to this advice, just fill the fist page with as much as you got. If your crap is there your competitors money site isn't. Just spend a bit more time getting your money site above your crap.

(not saying your web2's are crap - thats what I call mine one too)

Maybe. But imho the risk of devaluation is way too high. I will try to build long lasting links to my money site - one or two days of work. The niche is very rewarding.

Then maybe get some edu backlinks to your site. There's no way they won't work.

Yeah, that might work. I will look to buy existing edu profiles or wikis with history and inbound links. Thanks.

yeah this happens even with broader anchor text to the web 2's but with a bit of creative linkbuilding you will outrank them

actually since the web2.0s have good authority, even a slight push makes them stronger than virgin sites. I mean link a web2.0 with 100 backlinks and link a site with 100 backlinks, your web2.0 will rank higher. What you can do is refer traffic or place some clickbank ads on these properties. They will bank something while you get to first position.

Also build 2-3 such massive networks and then link your site. See if it moves above these properties.

    - I wrote all of the articles myself since I know the topic/niche and am very fluid at writing about it. I also added photos from my own archives or press releases.
    - There were around 10 properties.
    - links to web2s were wiki links, social bookmarks and a profile blast
    - links to money site were contextual links from blog networks.
    - I did not use a stiff linking scheme, but placed contextual links inside articles of web2s. There were 1 to 2 links to money sites and 3 to 5 for link wheel links to my other web2s. It was more of a random link building inside the wheel. Some were ABC, other ABA and so on. I guess, they were interlinked like a cloud to make a proper geometrical analogy.
    - web2s that were not indexed right away just contained linkwheel links, but no links to money site.
    - I was always waiting for web2s to be indexed before I added links to money site.

Actually, it was all pretty White Hat, but of course can be scaled and modified with stronger blackhat means.

Because risk/reward ratio is against my favour imho since I do rank high already.
I would consider it if I were ranking somewhere around 20 or 30ish. I tried xrumer blasts 3 times and got scammed with very poor services so I am not going to touch it again. Too many black sheep in this biz. I would rather wait and drip feed edu profiles, facebook likes and more high PR posts.

Maybe adding a second, independent linkwheel is a good idea?

I am interested in keeping the site in top ten for years to come, not just for a week or month.
