I'm targetting some low competition kws (less than 150 searches a month on G) but am not making progress after 10 days.

    My process:

Day 1: Post 400 word unique article to squidoo.com. Link to money site. Ping, submit to fing.fm, submit RSS feed, submit to onlywire.

Day 2: Post 400 word unique article to squidoo.com. Link to money site. Ping, submit to fing.fm, submit RSS feed, submit to onlywire.

Day 3: Post 400 word unique article to blogger.com. Link to money site. Ping, submit to fing.fm, submit RSS feed, submit to onlywire.

Day 4: Post 400 word unique article to penthouse.org. Link to money site. Ping, submit to fing.fm, submit RSS feed, submit to onlywire.

Day 5: Post 400 word unique article to weebly.com. Link to money site. Ping, submit to fing.fm, submit RSS feed, submit to onlywire.

Day 6: Post 400 word unique article to quizilla.com. Link to money site. Ping, submit to fing.fm, submit RSS feed, submit to onlywire.

No bump in the SERPs after 10 days.

Should I just automate this w/ SENUKE and build larger wheels? Does SENUKE add more juice to the web 2.0 properties?

Linkwheels may be a little less effective today than they were 8-10 months ago. However, I could suggest altering your process a little bit.

I would recommend to make your posts, then bookmark them with onlywire, then ping the rss feeds of the bookmarked urls. It's just what has worked a little better for me.

You spoke of how many searches were conducted - 150/month. This is very low, but doesn't actually speak to competition at all. Your efforts may be entirely wasted unless you know the actual supply(competing websites) in your market.

How many competing sites are there for your main keywords?
Try google with your search term in quotes.

    Good luck!

I recommend not linking your link wheels to each other, only to your money site. You basically want to do everything you possibly can to reduce your footprint, if Google things the backlinks where created artifically for the purpose of backlinks and therefore SERP manipulation you will get penalized more juice/trust bla than linking the wheel together would have gotten you, you need to do your absolute best to make them look organic.

I wouldnt ping or bookmark my stuff (at least not fully) on the day of creation, or I would at least try and give a good 8+ hour gap, maybe some light pinging because google expects it but I probably wouldnt bother if I was going to do a full blast of the piece at a later time.

    Thats my theories anyway...

Oh you should also build more than one page per profile. Google likes relevant information, you can get away with just being a blatant sales pitch page but only if you are in a niche that is not competitive at all. One page web 2.0 properties look like spam. Are your web 2.0 properties even being indexed ?

    Here's a twist.

How about xrummer blasting all my web 2.0 properties?

Are you an experienced Xrumer user ? Google hates spam if your not careful with Xrumer you can get yourself spanked. Their is no "sandbox" but you can get penalized to crap.

I would hire an Xrummer service from BHW to blast my 2.0 properties, not my money site.

10 days isn't enough time to leave a mark in the SERPS. I've usually had to wait about a month to see the full effects of any links built

are you linking the web 2.0 properties to each other? if not it isn't really a link wheel is it? if you havent interlinked them all you did was create 6 backlinks to your site

Are you linking the spokes together?
Are you building any backlinks to the spokes?

I think the general concept of link wheels still works, however you're better to mix up the process a little, as G is probably tweaking their algorithm to work out linear structered type link wheel setups

There's a really good tutorial on linkwheels actually, that explains how it should be structured to mathmatically match the needs of the original PageRank algorithm.

Wikipedia - Original PageRank Algorithm Formula (probably has been modified somewhat since published):
A tutorial on how to structure a basic 3-spoke linkwheel for optimum performance based on published Pagerank formula:
Note that you'll probably have to do some research on mathmatical terms and symbols before you'll understand any of it.

Bear in mind that you still need to be skilled in other stuff that pagerank doesn't really address, such as keywords, relevant content, domain age, etc)

Edit: To the OP: What are you planning to do with a keyword that only gets 150 searches/month (approx. 5 searchers a day)? Seems to me that you'd have an easier time just trying to pull that kind of traffic from other websites rather than Google, because even if you were on the first page, you'd be lucky to get half of them to your site.

There is a Google sandbox. I used my automated backlink builder and after a week I was completely gone from for my search term. (I was not deindexed) I couldn't find myself anywhere after 30 pages (even though before I was on page 2).

After 3 weeks (as I left my automated backlink builder running using Cron jobs) I jumped to spot #5 for my keyword.

There is a Google sandbox but it's temporary. In my case, it was exactly 3 weeks.

    Update.

It's day 12 and I got a pretty nice boost in the SERPS for all my kw's. On average, I bumped up 4 spots.

I think I'm going to build out the linkwheel, then xrummer all the 2.0 properties. Then go back and add 2nd pages to my 2.0 properties pointing to my money page which target secondary kw's.

That way, my 2.0 properties are aged, indexed, and larger than 1 page...not your typical linkwheel spokes.
